Mega Millions, Powerball tix win big this weekend

Two $1 Mega Millions tickets won big on Friday night. The first, sold at the Harris Teeter on South Glenburnie Road in New Bern, matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win $10,000. The other ticket matched all five white balls to win $250,000. It was sold at Winn’s Express on Old Lenoir Road in Hickory.

As of Monday morning, the $250,000-winning Mega Millions ticket for the Feb. 10 drawing is still “at large.” It was sold at the JP Wilkesboro on U.S. 421 in Wilkesboro. The jackpot for the Tuesday, Feb. 21 Mega Millions drawing is estimated at $72 million.

Two Power Play tickets in Saturday’s Powerball drawing matched four white balls and the Powerball to win $40,000 each. They were sold at the Lowe’s Foods on Widewaters Parkway in Knightdale, and at the Shop N Go on N.C. 171 in Washington.

We still have yet to meet a pair of $1 million Powerball winners. Those tickets were sold in Jacksonville for the Feb. 4 drawing and in Durham for the Feb. 7 drawing. The jackpot for the Wednesdsay, Feb. 22 Powerball drawing is estimated at $60 million.

The lottery reminds winning ticketholders to sign their tickets immediately to establish ownership. Draw game winners have 180 days from the date of a drawing to claim prizes.

@ DEEP1 - Every single Powerball and Mega Millions ticket has the same chance of winning the jackpot whether it is sold in a tiny town in North Carolina or in New York City. It takes an incredible amount of luck to win a multimillion jackpot no matter where you live or play.

Same odds? Just research the past year and see how many Power Ball winner and Megamillion winners come from New York or it's neighboring state even. Looks like the odds are magnified if you are from New York or it's neighboring state. No state can be that darn lucky.

@ DEEP1 - Just because a lot of people live in New York and play lottery games there doesn't mean they have a *better chance* of winning. Everyone who buys a ticket has the exact same chance of winning.

The Powerball winner again comes from New York. If it's not the Powerball jackpot, then it's the Megamillion jackpot in New York. This is some bullcrap. New York isn't the only state playing these games you know!!

@ 1ROCK2KING - Without checking with other folks at the office on Monday morning, our best guess is that the winner you're referring to had more than one winning ticket and so our computer system automatically loaded his photo for each win. That, or its just a glitch where it's displaying the same photo/win too many times. We have about $2.4 million worth of winners every day; some players have their photo taken, others dont.

hey,won 3 numbers correct again on cash5,plus 2 numbers correct off same tickets folks.got my 5.00 dollars back off of it. just hope i can win tonight on cash5 and powerball. i had no numbers at all correct on mega millions last night :(

cash5 won last night,i did have 3 numbers correct for a 5 dollar win, plus 2 numbers correct on the same tickets for another two dollars win.one day,it's a coming to me!
