For a second straight drawing, someone has won $1 million playing Powerball in North Carolina. A ticket sold at the Eno Family Fare on Roxboro Road in Durham matched all five white balls to win the prize in Wednesday’s drawing. According to the Jacksonville Daily News, the winner of $1 million in Saturday’s drawing is still a mystery, and people are buzzing about who the winner might be.
As part of the new Powerball features that began Jan. 15, five white ball matches are now worth $1 million, up from $200,000 in the old game structure. In the new game, had the tickets been Power Played, each would be worth $2 million. A ticket which was Power Played for Wednesday’s drawing matched four white balls and the Powerball, making it worth $40,000. It was sold at the Family Fare on Northpoint Boulevard in Winston-Salem.
At an estimated $310 million, the Powerball jackpot is growing into record territory for Saturday’s drawing. Depending on ticket sales, the estimate could surpass $314.3 million. If that happens, it would be the largest Powerball jackpot North Carolina players have ever had the chance to win. Be on the lookout here in the Lucke-Zone for more on this weekend’s big jackpot.
