Can you feel the “Mega Madness?”
Tuesday night, the Mega Millions jackpot rolled to $290 million for Friday’s drawing, with a cash option of $205.5 million, making it the largest jackpot for the game in a year. The jackpot reached $312 million on March 25, 2011.
In all, North Carolina players won $334,832 in last night’s drawing. Six tickets – four of which were sold at Triad-area stores – matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win big prizes in the drawing:
- One of the tickets, sold at the Battleground Family Faire on Battleground Road in Greensboro, had the $1 Megaplier and is worth $40,000 because the Megaplier was four.
- A pair of High Point stores sold $10,000-winning tickets. Those locations are the High Point BP on East Lexington Avenue and the Fairway One Stop on North Main Street.
- A ticket sold at the Akron Shell station on Akron Drive in Winston-Salem is also worth $10,000.
- In Wayne County, at the Friendly Mart on North Breazeale Avenue in Mount Olive, someone bought a $10,000-winning ticket.
- A lucky Mega Millions player also bought a ticket worth $10,000 in Tuesday’s drawing at the Quality Mart on South Miami Boulevard in Durham.
As we look forward to the next drawing, what everyone wants to know is: Will a North Carolina ticket win a Mega Millions jackpot for the third time? Will multiple ‘perfect tickets’ split the jackpot? Or will it roll to more than $300 million and, if so, what will that amount be? We’ll be watching the Mega Ball with you on Friday night to find out.
