This week's wrap-up starts with our third winner of a $20,000 racing-themed trip in the Ultimate Fan game, officially-licensed by NASCAR®. Edward Sikorski, an automotive fabricator from Mills River in Henderson County, won in a second-chance drawing held April 11.
Sikorski, whose favorite driver is Dale Earnhardt Jr., said he would have to think about which race destination he will ultimately choose. “I just cannot believe it,” Sikorski said when he got the phone call alerting him of his win. “This is a total shock. This is going to be great.”
As of Friday afternoon, the second winner from the April 11 drawing had been contacted but had not yet claimed the prize. If you have non-winning Ultimate Fan tickets, you can enter them in the third and final second-chance drawing. It will be held on May 30 with the entry deadline at 11:59 p.m. on May 25.
Moving on to other big winners this week, two players collected Cash 5 jackpots. One worth $141,975 belongs to Lori Ayers, a preschool teacher from Hope Mills in Cumberland County. "I always said I'd take a cruise," she said as she collected her prize money from the April 17 drawing. "And then, you know, pay off things we owe so we can breathe a little easier."
A $113,329 Cash 5 jackpot was awarded to a Wilson County man. Darrick Barnes, a resident of Saratoga, decided to purchase a Carolina Cash 5 ticket last Friday. As he was leaving the store, something told him to turn around and purchase one more ticket. His hunch paid off and the ticket matched all five numbers in the April 13 drawing.
Speaking of Wilson County, we still don't know who bought a Powerball ticket worth $1 million for the April 11 drawing at the Handy Mart on Herring Avenue in Wilson. The ticket is one of four $1 million-winning tickets for draw games that are unclaimed at this time.
All three jackpots North Carolinians can play for grew this week, with Powerball up to an estimated $152 million for Saturday's drawing. Mega Millions checks in at an estimated $65 million and Carolina Cash 5 stands at $102,000 heading into Friday night.
Three Powerball players claimed their prizes. Beverly Livingston of Calabash in Brunswick County and Frank Patterson of Durham Power Played their way to $40,000 prizes in the April 11 drawing. Odell McClendon of Charlotte won $10,000 in the April 14 drawing.
Instant scratch-off winners collected more than $11.9 million in prizes since last week's update. Three $10,000 prizes went to players from Myrtle Beach, S.C., Kernersville, and Mint Hill on the $125,000 Casino Cash, $200,000 a Year for Life, and Maximum Green games. A $500,000 Jackpot ticket led to a $25,000 win for a player from Macclesfield. And the largest instant prize awarded this week went to a Rural Hall resident who won $50,000 playing Cash Spectacular.
Another week of wins are in the books. Until next time, have a great weekend and see you soon here in the Lucke-Zone.
