It was a big weekend for folks who enjoy playing draw games here in North Carolina. The biggest number to come out of the weekend was $2.6 million. That’s the size of the Pick 3 payout for Friday afternoon’s drawing when the combination 5-5-5 was drawn. Just a few weeks ago on March 22, Pick 3 players won more than $1 million on the combination 3-2-1.
The biggest ticket purchased by a lucky player for a drawing this weekend was for Saturday’s Powerball drawing. Whoever bought the ticket, which matched all five white balls, added the $1 Power Play feature to win $2 million. The ticket was sold at the Kerr Drug on N.C. 117 North in Rose Hill, which is in Duplin County.
There was also a “match five” in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing. That ticket, worth $250,000, was sold at the 74 Junction on Highway 74A in Forest City, which is in Rutherford County. Along with whoever bought this ticket, we’re still waiting to meet three of the four ticketholders who won $250,000 in the record-breaking Mega Millions drawing on March 30.
To win the jackpot playing the multistate jackpot games Powerball and Mega Millions, a player must match all six numbers. To win North Carolina’s jackpot game Carolina Cash 5, a player has to match all five numbers. Someone did exactly that for Thursday’s drawing to win the $50,000 jackpot. The winning ticket was purchased at Winton’s Friendly Mart on South Main Street in Winton, which is in Hertford County.
Draw game players have 180 days from the date of a drawing to collect their prizes. We look forward to meeting these winning ticketholders and finding out who else has good luck this week here in North Carolina.
