Draw game players win millions this weekend

It was a big weekend for folks who enjoy playing draw games here in North Carolina. The biggest number to come out of the weekend was $2.6 million. That’s the size of the Pick 3 payout for Friday afternoon’s drawing when the combination 5-5-5 was drawn. Just a few weeks ago on March 22, Pick 3 players won more than $1 million on the combination 3-2-1.

The biggest ticket purchased by a lucky player for a drawing this weekend was for Saturday’s Powerball drawing. Whoever bought the ticket, which matched all five white balls, added the $1 Power Play feature to win $2 million. The ticket was sold at the Kerr Drug on N.C. 117 North in Rose Hill, which is in Duplin County.

There was also a “match five” in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing. That ticket, worth $250,000, was sold at the 74 Junction on Highway 74A in Forest City, which is in Rutherford County. Along with whoever bought this ticket, we’re still waiting to meet three of the four ticketholders who won $250,000 in the record-breaking Mega Millions drawing on March 30.

To win the jackpot playing the multistate jackpot games Powerball and Mega Millions, a player must match all six numbers. To win North Carolina’s jackpot game Carolina Cash 5, a player has to match all five numbers. Someone did exactly that for Thursday’s drawing to win the $50,000 jackpot. The winning ticket was purchased at Winton’s Friendly Mart on South Main Street in Winton, which is in Hertford County.

Draw game players have 180 days from the date of a drawing to collect their prizes. We look forward to meeting these winning ticketholders and finding out who else has good luck this week here in North Carolina.

I won $2,750 on those 555! I love 555, I hit them in Michigan before. Be on the look out for them in South Carolina next, they have not been out there in about 6 years. Good luck to lottery players!

@BigMike - just don't owe Child Support, IRS, Fraud Programs, School Loans, Dr. Bills, etc.....bcause trust me, they definitely gonna get their money b4 u do. Good Luck on not b n publicized, but remember, ur SSN goes further than u ever will bcause i had a friend to owe money 2 the government and she had 2 ppl try 2 cash n her winning ticket.....but guess what, her ticket got voided all 2gether and she lost the money instead of just letting her debt b paid with the winning ticket. That's what happen when u try to fraud the government bcause she still has the debt and now no $ to show 4 it!! SMH

@ BIGMIKE - It's state law in North Carolina, because lottery prize money are public dollars, and citizens have a right to know that real people win real prizes. This is the way it has worked since 2006 when tickets went on sale in our state.

@ MISSV - You have a choice as far as having your picture taken. Hope you win on Pick 4 again sometime soon!

@ BONNIE2 - We do our best to respond to questions, but sometimes it gets confusing because the question and response are in one blog, and then we post new blogs, and so folks can't always find the answer we try to provide. We don't censor comments :-)

I Didn't See My Previous Comment Re: More Winners In Nashville. So I'll Just Not Say Anything, Thank You.

I always wondered about remaining anonymous. Now I have the answer. I won more than 4 times on the pick 4 last year and I was hoping they wouldn't ask me to take a picture when I picked up my check(my winnings were over $600) my name was listed on the website. Do they ask you to take a picture or you have a choice?

4/10/2012 04:45 - Michael H.

I thank it would be a good thing not to give names out if u win u put hits on that person u make it bad for them why ppl got to know if u win its not right

@ QUANTE - No, in North Carolina, the law says that winning lottery money is public information. We never share winners' phone numbers or home addresses with anyone including the media. But a winner's name, hometown, game played and amount won are public.

Can you remain anonymous in NC if you when a prize.

CONGRATS 2 ME!!! I HIT, I HIT, I HIT THE TRIP 5'S BUT DIDN'T NO UNTIL I WENT 2 PUT MY EVENING NUMBERS N & LOOKED ON THE BOARD AND SAW THAT THE 5'S HAD CAME OUT. I WENT AHEAD AND PUT MY EVENING NUMBERS N AND THEN I PRESENTED THE CASHIER WITH MY WINNING TICKET. I TOLD HER 2 PUT THE WHOLE $500 IN A MONEY ORDER INSTEAD OF GIVING ME $50 CASH AND THE REST IN A MONEY ORDER. I NO ME. IF I HAD GOTTEN THAT $50 IN MY HAND THEN I WOULD HAVE PLAYED MORE NUMBERS.....WHICH I DIDN'T NEED 2 DO; SO THEREFORE, I TOOK MY WINNINGS AND WENT ABT MY MERRY WAY!
