NCEL weekly wrap-up

Players from all over North Carolina claimed big wins this week playing instant games and Carolina Cash 5. Overall, over the last week, North Carolina players claimed $12.1 million in instant prizes, $2.7 million in Carolina Pick 3 prizes and $1.2 million playing Powerball.

Talk about beginners luck! Mary Lockey of Waynesville in Haywood County won the $186,960 jackpot the first time she ever played the game. She matched all five numbers in the May 7 drawing.

And how's this for a birthday gift to remember? Jerry Graham of High Point will never forget his 46th birthday after he bought a lucky lottery ticket that netted him $100,000 with his initial taxes paid.

Two players matched four white balls and the Powerball Winners in the May 2 Powerball drawing: Russell McBride of Mount Airy and Nino Palazzolo of Avon.
