A Lucke-Zone online contest sent two lucky winners and their guests to Friday’s NCEL 200 truck race in Concord with the opportunity to be a part of the action and meet some of their favorite drivers. Frank Edens of Hamlet and Clayton Lanier of Winston-Salem were chosen as the truck race’s honorary starter and grand marshal.
Friday night, in front of the fans at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the two contest winners greeted the drivers on-stage as they were announced, including the eventual winner Justin Lofton. Both Edens and Lanier also received a set of tickets for the NCEL 200, the Sprint All-Star race and the Coca Cola 600.
“It was an experience I’ll never forget,” said Edens. “When you wave that flag, you feel the power from the engines and everything coming towards you. It’s just incredible.”
“I don’t have any complaints,” Lanier said. “I feel so privileged. I was nervous leading up to talking into the microphone, but it was over so quickly.”
Both winners and their guests took a tour of the infield, including the garage and pit areas. They were also recognized during the pre-race driver’s meeting. As the race commenced, Edens and Lanier witnessed their action from a private suite fully catered with dinner, snacks and beverages. After the checkered flag waved, Lanier, Edens and their guests posed for photographs with Justin Lofton on Victory Lane.
“This whole experience has been top notch,” Lanier added.
