Carolina Black one of three games starting Tuesday

Here's a sneak peek at the new games launching next Tuesday, June 5.

It's called Carolina Black, but the color that might interest you the most is green. The popular $5 scratch-off game returns to stores on Tuesday, with six top prizes of $100,000. The game features more than 100,000 prizes from $50 to $500 and more than $17.2 million in cash prizes are available to be claimed. The overall odds of winning are 1 in 3.96.

Players have 15 chances to win a prize on each ticket. Players who reveal a "COIN" symbol will win the prize shown instantly. Revealing a BILL symbol wins double the prize shown. Those who scratch off a "MONEYBAG" symbol win $50 instantly.

Another scratch-off game going on sale Tuesday is 24 Karat Gold - a $2 game that starts with more than $6.2 million in total prizes. Players win the corresponding prize when they reveal a "GOLD" symbol. Revealing a "BILL" symbol wins $24 instantly. There are eight $24,000 top prizes in the game, which starts with overall odds of winning of 1 in 4.74.

Are $1 games more your style? Amazing 8’s features 20 top prizes of $1,888 and more than $1.4 million in total prizes of $10 or greater. To win a prize, players must reveal an "EIGHT" symbol on the play area. Players who scratch off a "STAR" symbol win all six prizes automatically. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 4.87.

@ DREYES - Here's an explanation from our instant ticket expert: Click on the game How To Play and use the Prize Chart to multiply any one of the prize level total prizes by the odds for that prize level. For example for Carolina Black there are 6 $100,000 prizes with odds for that prize at 1 : 860,000. 6 (# of prizes) x 860,000 (prize level odds) = 5,160,000 (total tickets printed for the game)

@ DEEP1 - Thank you for the feedback on that. We will share it with the ticket folks. But as we mentioned in the comment above, it's a standard thing you will find on scratch-offs in other states, too.

I've always said it's just stupid to put a prize on a ticket that's less than the cost of the ticket. That so defeats the purpose.

@ BUFFALO & @ DRUSH - The way the prizes work on our scratch-off games are very similar to what you'd find in other states as well. Hey, breaking even isn't too bad! We wish y'all luck on another ticket

any win is a welcomed surprise, but when you get two matching numbers and one is two dollar prize and the other is three dollars, I'm happy I won but what a let down, have'nt seen this on a five dollar ticket except the new black ticket

My winning experience.... a $2 and a $3 spot on a Carolina Black ticket.... any payout spot less than ticket cost is a sacrilege...just make it $5 instead of $2 & $3...sheesh. cheapens the game for me. what next? 10 x $.50 ?

I enjoy playing the lottery although I dont always have the best of luck. NCEL website shows how many winning tickets are left is it possible to show how many tickets were printed all together?

@FERRITT123 - I second that motion! Only nascar and wheel of fortune! There aren't any wheel of fortune tickets in my town...again, coastal NC is out of luck!

YOU KNOW I HOPE THESE TICKET'S ARE BETTER THAN THE LAST ONE'S THAT CAME OUT,THAT 20 TIME'S THE MONEY IS A BIG JOKE. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE WASTED YOUR TIME AND EFFORT ON THAT ONE. MAYBE THESE WILL HAVE SOME MONEY ON THEM.
