A pair of seven-figure hauls headlined six big wins for North Carolina players in weekend drawings. Substantial prizes, including two Cash 5 jackpots, were won on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Three of the tickets won in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing. Two matched all five white balls, one of which is worth $1 million because the $1 Megaplier feature was added. That ticket was sold at the Jonestown Road Family Fare in Winston-Salem. The other “match-five” ticket, worth $250,000, was sold at the Lowe’s Foods on Old Oak Ridge Road in Greensboro. The third lucky ticket matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win $10,000. It was sold at the Han-Dee Hugo on West Main Street in Carrboro in Orange County. The Mega Millions jackpot, meanwhile, rolled to $45 million.
Someone bought a Powerball ticket in the small town of Waxhaw in Union County that won a big prize Saturday night: $1 million. The $2 ticket, which matched all five white balls, was sold at the Harris Teeter on Kensington Drive. According to Powerball rules, had it been a $3 Power Play ticket, it would be worth $2 million. Meanwhile, with no “perfect ticket” in the drawing, the Powerball jackpot rolled to $121 million. If won by a North Carolina player, it would mark the second-largest jackpot win in state history.
The Carolina Cash 5 jackpot was hit in consecutive drawings. A ticket sold at the J Mart on Virginia Street in Eden in Rockingham County won $106,397 on Saturday night. In Sunday’s drawing, the $50,000 jackpot was won by a ticket sold at the Alco on Cliffdale Road in Fayetteville. Heading into Monday's drawing, the jackpot stood at $50,000.
The cherry on top also came Sunday night when Pick 3 players won Green Ball Bonus Cash for a fourth time. The Green Ball could appear any night between now and Saturday, July 28 when the promotion ends. As always – whatever your favorite games are – we wish you the best of luck.
