Even though many of our players are on vacation this week, we'd just like to remind you that the Powerball jackpot for Saturday night’s drawing is an estimated $70 million if taken as an annuity or $46.3 million if taken as a lump sum. We have more than 6,700 retailers across the state and we'd love it if one of them sold the 6th jackpot-winning ticket this weekend.
Let's talk about the big winners from this past week.
Mikala Fields, a college student from Oak Island in Brunswick County, plans to buy a house and attend nusing school after she scratched off a $1 million prize.
“I scratched it off a little and thought I had only won a dollar,” Fields said. “But then I went back and saw there was more to it. It was awesome. I didn’t think it was real. It still doesn’t feel real now.”
Shawn White of Kannapolis is the fourth lottery player to win the top prize in the Ultimate Fan game, officially-licensed by NASCAR®. White joins winners from Clinton, Jacksonville, and Tobaccoville who have claimed $100,000 prizes playing the game.
In all, the Education Lottery awarded more than $16 million in prizes to players of lottery games.
Carolina Cash 5 Players in the Piedmont should check their tickets from the June 30 drawing. A ticket sold in Rockingham County matched all five numbers and is worth $244,086. The ticket was sold at Garrett Mini Mart on East Main Street in Stoneville.
That about wraps up this wrap-up. Have a safe and lucky weekend!
