At $320 million, Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is the second-largest North Carolina players have ever had the chance to win. Since the game started here in 2006, the only other time the jackpot has been this big was back on Feb. 11 when it reached $336.4 million.
Check out News 14’s story about the big jackpot.
The roll to $320 million began back on June 27. Since then, the 14 drawings have produced 23 big-winning tickets across the state, including four $1 million winners. Those players are from Burlington in Alamance County, Durham, the Triad area, and Waxhaw in Union County. Thanks to players and retailers, the run has also helped the lottery raise an estimated $8.5 million to benefit North Carolina education programs.
Three North Carolinians have won Powerball jackpots ranging from $74.5 million to $141.4 million. Wednesday night, a jackpot winner in our state could more than double the largest prize ever awarded here.
Good luck to everyone and stay tuned to the Lucke-Zone for updates.
