After 13 straight rolls without a ‘perfect ticket,’ the Powerball jackpot is up to $253 million for Saturday’s drawing, and is nearing record territory. The largest Powerball jackpot North Carolina players have ever had the chance to win was the $336.4 million seen in the Feb. 11 drawing earlier this year (It surpassed the original estimate of $325 million).
Players in our state have won more than $5.2 million since the current run began on June 27. Players have won 20 prizes of $10,000 or more, including three $1 million prizes.
In Wednesday’s drawing alone, seven tickets matched four white balls and the Powerball to win prizes of $10,000 to $40,000. Players who added the $1 Power Play feature multiplied their winnings to the $40,000 amount. Those tickets were sold at the Sundo Kwik Shop on S. Roberts Ave. in Lumberton (Robeson County) and at Pulliam’s Grocery on U.S. 29 Business in Reidsville (Rockingham County).
The five $10,000-winning tickets were sold at:
- The Lowe’s Foods on Strickland Rd. in Raleigh
- The Panda Store on Perch Rd. in Pinnacle (Stokes County)
- Joe’s Country Mart at Belvoir Rd. and N.C. 33 W. in Greenville
- Stanley’s BP on U.S. 25/70 in Marshall (Madison County)
- The Circle K on New Leesville Boulevard in Raleigh
We’ll be watching with players to see what happens with the $253 million jackpot on Saturday night! Best of luck to everyone.
