Players of draw games in North Carolina won big prizes on Friday and Saturday night as the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots grew larger. On Sunday, the Cash 5 Bonus Bucks promotion began, giving players of the game more chances to win.
Let’s start with a North Carolina Mega Millions ticket that matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win $10,000. The lucky ticket was purchased at the Market Express on Old Monroe Road in Matthews, which is in Mecklenburg County outside of Charlotte. The Mega Millions jackpot, meanwhile, rolled to $120 million for Tuesday’s drawing.
North Carolina Powerball players won $134,275 in total prizes on Saturday night as the jackpot rolled to $110 million for Wednesday’s drawing.
In the northeastern region of the state, someone bought a Cash 5 ticket worth $50,000 at the Westside Grocery on West 10th Street in Roanoke Rapids. The ticket was the only one to match all five numbers in Friday's drawing and hit the jackpot. The winning numbers were 4-5-16-21-34.
A promotion for the Cash 5 game started Sunday that offers players five extra chances to win as much as $50,000. The lottery will hold five Cash 5 Bonus Bucks drawings between now and next summer. In each drawing, five prizes will be awarded: One $50,000 grand prize, one $5,000 prize, and three $1,000 prizes.
To get a Bonus Bucks entry slip, a Cash 5 purchase of $5 must be made in one of two ways. A player can select five sets of numbers for one drawing on a single ticket or choose one set of numbers for five drawings on a single ticket. Along with the $5 Cash 5 ticket, an entry slip for the Bonus Bucks drawing will be generated at no extra cost.
Today, entry slips are valid for the first drawing to be held on Nov. 14. The odds of winning depend on how many entries are made before the Nov. 7 entry deadline. The entry slip received at the time of purchase must be kept!
To find out if you are a winner in a Cash 5 Bonus Bucks Drawing, check the lottery’s website after the drawing. The five prize-winning numbers selected in a random drawing will be posted there. Prizes won in the Bonus Bucks drawings must be claimed at one of the lottery’s regional claim centers, or by mail.
Remember to hang on to those entry slips to find out if you’re a winner.
