‘Hot Streak’ and ‘Lucky Green’ instant games start Tuesday

We’ve got two new games coming out on Tuesday, one of which gives players a chance to win $150,000.

The new $5 game, Hot Streak, features four top prizes of $150,000 and more than $12.4 million in total prizes. To win a prize, players scratch off their numbers and match them to any of four winning numbers. Players who reveal a “Moneybag” symbol win the prize shown instantly. Revealing a “Hot” symbol wins $50 instantly. More than 46,000 total prizes of $50 or greater can be won in the game.

So what’s your favorite color? Lucky Green offers players four chances to win the top prize of $30,000. Players who reveal a “Clover” symbol win the prize shown. Revealing a “Pot of Gold” symbol wins the player $20 instantly. At $2 per ticket, the game has more than $4.3 million in total prizes. Odds of winning a break-even prize or better are 1 in 4.38.

@ PIRATE_2015 - Winning tickets are distributed at random throughout the entire printing run of each lottery game; nobody has any idea where a winning ticket will appear until a player scratches it off. Whether you play scratch-off games in North Carolina or anywhere else, there are always many more non-winning tickets than winning tickets; this is what makes it possible to award prizes big and small to winners. I have been buying tickets for weeks, many tickets, and have not won a thing. Are they placing winning tickets in the stores? If they are, is that just one per store? No fun playing when you never win.

@ AFRT04 - Thanks for chasing us down to leave this comment! :-) Another raffle is definitely a possibility, but the last couple weren't as popular with players as we hoped they'd be. That's why we haven't had one in a while. But we'll pass along the suggestion!

Left this in another blog, but I'm putting this comment here because the blog I put it in may have been too old to be addressed. PLEASE!! BRING BACK THE RAFFLE!!! It has the best odds to win. It would be a nice gesture for the loyal lottery customers. If you felt like there weren't enough tickets bought, you could do as they do in Connecticut and sell $10 tickets with fewer million dollar winners.

The grocery store retailers in Harrisburg consistently have as many as 10 empty slots in their machines and when I ask when they will fill them they comment that the NCEL has to do that, that they aren't authorized which I know is not true because I have seen others filling the machines at other places. Some checking needs to be done on these places if they are to be a retailer....they are costing NCEL money by having empty slots.

@ HORSEGRL - In many cases, stores that sell lottery ticktes a limited number of people on staff - usually managers - that are authorized to activate and place a game in a dispenser. That's often the reason particular stores don't have new tickets in the dispensers on the official launch date.

@ EARL2212 - The last time you asked about this, we mentioned that our website might one day have this capability, but that its not something that's possible at this time. One thing you can study on your own is how many people live in different parts of the state. For example, did you know that about 25% of all North Carolinians live in Guilford, Mecklenburg, and Wake counties?

I think is's fantastic that NCEL has started the 5 for $500 weekly second chance drawings! I just wish that they would follow suit with a 5 for $5000 monthly drawing at least once to give more players a shot at winning a big check!

@ BEARS63 - There will always be a period of time between when drawings are held, and when more information about the winners are posted. This is because there are security and validation procedures as well as notification and claim procedures - all of which have to be completed before a winner's name will be announced. The lottery first attempts to contact a winner at the e-mail address associated with his or her Lucke Zone membership; if that attempt is unsuccessful the lottery reaches out by telephone; if that attempt is unsuccessful the lottery sends certified mail. Then a winner must complete the claim process.

When new games come out,most stores do not have them available for purchase until Wednesday or Thursday according to them because they haven't recieved them yet (on the launch day) Why are new games not shipped out to stores a day or two before the launch date?? Thanks

were are the winners for gastonia every place has had winners for online and scratch off but none has been in the gastonia area even the tickets people arent buying your tickets as much any more because gastonia hasnt had that many winners online no winners at all check it out you will see no online winners at all

well the 1-22-13 the day sweepstakes get decided on weather they stay operating.the state receives revenue from them.the scratch off and lotery tickets will continue as long as there is a a jack pot.
