Instant scratch-offs, Mega Millions and Cash 5 produce big wins

Three big winners came through lottery headquarters in Raleigh this week.

Martin Hughes of Fayetteville is the first player to win the $3 million top prize in the $120 Million Cash game. "This is going to change my life," Hughes said. “This is crazy. I feel like a burden has been lifted off of me.”

The $120 Million Cash game continued to be lucky for players across the state. Four players won $10,000 in the game this week, including Ricky Church of Hickory, Charles Jacobs of Rocky Mount, Jeanne Lawson of Jacksonville and Franz Lunsford of Durham.

Amy Rowland of Rowan County claimed her $250,000 Mega Millions prize on Wednesday. The China Grove resident matched all five white balls but not the Mega Ball in the Oct. 8 drawing.

A lucky ticket purchased at Great Stops on Falls of Neuse Road in Raleigh beat the odds to give a $114,634 win to Steve Wall of Raleigh.

Instant scratch-off winners from this week include:

Marcia Dwyer of Erwin won $50,000 playing Junior Big Ol’ Bucks.
Alyssa Ellington of Henderson won $50,000 playing Diamond Crossword.
Vergus Mock of Greensboro won $50,000 playing Jumbo Bucks.
Elduado Norman of Plymouth won $20,000 playing $4,000,000 Gold Bullion.
Nelson Daubenmeyer of Winston-Salem won $15,000 playing Bonus Jackpot.

@ BETTER - Did you know approximately 10% of the entire population of North Carolina lives in Wake County? So when you hear that somebody there won a lottery prize, keep in mind that many other players who live there did not. It's not easier or harder to win the lottery depending on where you live.

I see somebody from Zebulon won a mill on holiday cash scratch off , what a surprise , I can't believe that. Just another big winner from wake county . Boy that county wins more than any other county in nc. Look it up .

@ PLAYER (JPRINCE7) - We've already had this conversation with you on the other blog. The odds of any particular Pick 3 combination being the winning one are 1 in 1000 regardless of past drawing results. The odds never change.

What is up with these double 1's(as in 711,911,1137) in NC. Are they putting more 1's balls into the machine than other balls? I mean, the 0's seem to be the forgotten balls. I need to look closely during the drawing to make sure all the balls are equally represented. lol

Hey LZ! No problem, just wanted to make sure it was y'all and not some scam. I have been playing the lottery every since it came to SC. I was in a lottery group at first at work. We went to VA to buy tickets. We each would take turns going. Then it came to SC, then we started having players go to SC. When it came to Nc, of course we started playing here! Now no more group and I play on my own now! I would like to win the lottery so we can live out the rest of our lives, without worries about not having money in the future! My Wife and I would love to retire at the beach. So that's the reason I play the lottery to win. I see that California finally won the jackpot last night! Just what 6 months after joining. A little hint from a winner to you people who buy all those tickets in a row. Next time, try playing across the board, that is, play one of each $20 ticket or $10 ticket etc. and just watch your luck change for the better. The catz has won some big prizes using this method. Just don't give it all back when you win. And remember me if you hit really big!

i thought the odds of winning were better than they actually are. i have spent a lot of money recently on a variety of tickets and nothing is paying out. the $20 tickets are a joke! spent $200 buying 10 tickets in a row and only won $20 on one ticket. very misleading. wont be wasting my time and money anymore.

It's wonderful to see and here how spending a few dollars could one day change someone who is struggling to being finically independent. the odds of a persons winning is very high. but I guess it all boils down to, what faith has for you. so why be bitter because it not you.
