Carolina Cash 5 jackpot climbs to $701,000

The Carolina Cash 5 jackpot has climbed to $701,000, the biggest jackpot in the game in the last six weeks.

Tuesday’s drawing was the ninth one in a row where no one came up with the perfect ticket to win the jackpot. The odds of winning the Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 575,757.

The jackpot was last won in the Sept. 29 drawing when a ticket sold in Raleigh matched all five numbers to win $114,634. We’re still waiting to meet whoever bought that lucky ticket.

Cash 5 players also can get an entry into a Cash 5 Bonus Bucks drawing for up to a $50,000 prize when they make a $5 purchase on a single Cash 5 ticket. The next Bonus Bucks drawing is scheduled for Dec. 4 and the deadline for entries is Nov. 20. Pablo Rios Maldonado, a retired construction manager who lives in Lucama, was the winner of the $50,000 top prize in the Oct. 2 Bonus Bucks drawings.

@ gorams15 Saw your comment. We want to remind everyone playing the lottery that you should only play for fun and only play with money you can afford to lose. If playing the lottery doesn't seem fun, it's probably a sign that you should take a break.

@ maybaby We post the winners as fast as we can. We can only announce a winner's name after he or she responds to the lottery's notification efforts and completes the claim process. We begin notifying winners within 48 hours of a drawing; how long it takes before a winner's name is posted depends on the winner responding & claiming.
