The first full week of November is in the books and, with it, more than $22.5 million in lottery prizes. This week’s biggest winners in North Carolina happen to be from Cumberland, Lenoir and Montgomery counties.
But before we get to the biggest individual lottery prizes, we can’t forget Wednesday night’s Pick 3 drawing. When Triple 5’s appeared for the second time this year, players of the game won $1.4 million in prizes.
Thursday’s night’s Carolina Cash 5 drawing turned out to be lucky for Sandra Smith of Linden. The Cumberland County woman won $347,613 on the lucky ticket she purchased at David’s Three D Grocery on Ramsey Street in Linden.
Let’s talk about who scratched their way to big prizes this week.
A Goldsboro man told us he’s use the $1 million prize he won playing $4,000,000 Gold Bullion to make a long-awaited purchase. “I’m going to buy my wife a house,” Dean Thompson said. The manufacturing supervisor bought his lucky ticket at the Murphy Express on West Vernon Avenue in Kinston.
A $100,000 instant win came in Montgomery County to Danny Cameron of Troy. Cameron was at the ALCO on Albemarle Road when he tried his luck on two $5 Mega Bucks tickets. “I was pumping gas and scratching the tickets,” Cameron said. “I won $5 on the first one and then had to do a double take when I scratched the other, just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. I showed the clerk and she came around the counter to give me a hug.”
In all, instant scratch-off players won more than $16.3 million. Draw game players scored another $6.2 million in total prizes.
What will next week bring? We’ll have to wait and see. Thanks for being with us here in the Lucke-Zone and have a great weekend.
