McDowell County man scratches his way to $10,000

A personal assistant from Marion beat odds of 1 in 342,000 to win $10,000 instantly. Dallas Roper purchased his lucky ticket for the 20X The Cash game at the Marathon Gas Station on US 221 South in Marion. He collected his winnings Wednesday at the lottery’s regional claim center in Asheville. He did not share immediate plans for the prize money.

A pair of other Western North Carolina players have had good luck playing 20X the Cash. Trina Love of Lake Lure in Rutherford County won $10,000 and David Kincaid of Granite Falls in Caldwell County won $200,000.

With Roper’s win, six prizes of $10,000 are still in the game. Two top prizes of $200,000, and millions of dollars in other prizes, remain to be claimed.

@ DEEP1 - The size of the payout depends on how many players decided to play numbers that happened to be lucky, not a decision-making process by the lottery. You are welcome to come and attend a live drawing to see all the security measures in place to ensure that the drawings are random and fair to everyone with a ticket.

while entering my second ticket of the day-dec 19 I was frozen out for entering too many wrong numbers. I knew this second chance was a scam, why else would you lock me out two days in a row.You should be ashamed for scamming the public like this.Check it out and tell me howmany wrong numbers I entered today the 19th of dec.I bet NCEL wont even contact me about this.

I've noticed the Pick 3 payout getting smaller and smaller with each passing day. I swear I believe the lottery officials choose the lowest paid pick 3 number and bring that one out. If you want a successful lottery for years to come, you have to pay the players back some.

@ BABYBIG - Your question is very common here in the Lucke-Zone, so much so that we just answered it in the comments earlier in this blog! Here is what we said: "The lottery announces winners' names as soon as possible. The way it works is that we notify winners first by e-mail within 48 hours of a drawing. If they don't respond, we attempt to reach them by telephone and certified mail if neccessary. Once a winner responds to notification, we can only announce the name AFTER he or she completes the claim process which, for prizes of $600+, must be done at one of our regional claim centers or by mail. So you see we do all we can to share the info, the timetable really depends on the winners."

i jus cant seem to understand how is that u never find a two dollar prize amount on non winning $10 50X scratch offs but yet when u win 20X,10x etc...theirs a prize amount for $2....that has to be crazy...smh

I am very happy for all winners each person has a chance if, but you have to play or enter the drawing.I have a question for the technical support. My question is when entering the lucky rewards drawings I notice the entries under the 2,500 cold cash I only see 0 entries. Is that the way it suppose to be when I enter the drawing.Now under the 25,000 cold cash I see (1)entry others I don't see any. is anyone else that lives close to va have a problem with the subscription service like i am. so far for me its no good i called the hotline number and they told my im to close to va and my isp singnal maybe in va so that messes up my geo location.

I stopped at the QT in Denver where the winning cash 5 bonus ticket was sold and told the manager I was the winner. He didn't even know the ticket was sold there! Of course I was just jerking his chain. But I do stop there once a week for gas. So close !!!!!!!!!!

When you buy tics online thru subscriptions, are your points automatically put into your rewards account? And are you also entered into the 2nd chance drawings like the $10 PB tailgate contest ? I called the help line over the weekend and they did not know.

@ DOCK - No individual player has an advantage or disadvantage when it comes to winning the lottery. But there are many more people living west of I-95 who are taking a chance to win. Did you know that 1 out of 4 North Carolinians lives in either Guilford, Mecklenburg or Wake County? Again, its not any easier or harder to win the lottery in one of those places - just ask a lottery player from anywhere west of I-95 if its easier to win the lottery there and they will tell you the same thing we are. We do have winners from the eastern part of the state as well, including two of our multimillion dollar jackpot winners. Congratulation Mr Roper on your win! You have done something that I can't do is win on a big ticket! Money is getting low now, so I'm going to have to be very conservative on how much I can spend now. Christmas around the corner, bought no gifts yet either. Was hoping to win some money to help with buying Christmas with! Just cannot depend on winning lottery to do it with! So guess I'm going to have to borrow money to get it done! Im sure they have a limit on each roll but to not even get a ticket (1.00) and win a ticket even 2.00 tickets is ridiculas...all i can say is i miss "GEORGIA" they always had some good payin winning tickets'GUMBO" 2.00 tickets "500.00" on a 2.00 ticket!!!!!
