Hungry for a new game?

A new scratch-off game launching Tuesday gives players three chances to win a $4 million prize.

$4,000,000 Gold Bullion is a $20 game featuring more than $120.6 million in total prizes. To win a prize, players scratch off their numbers and match them to any of eight winning numbers. Players who reveal a “$100” symbol win $100 instantly. Revealing a “Moneybag” symbol wins five times the prize shown and revealing a “Cash Bundle” symbol wins 10 times the prize shown. More than 786,000 total prizes of $40 to $400 can be won in the game.

Players who win the game’s top prize have the option of receiving a 20-year annuity or a lump sum option that can be claimed in either cash or gold bullion.

Hot on the heels of the new
$100,000 Crossword game comes Bonus Crossword, the new $3 game featuring five top prizes of $50,000. and more than $7.9 million in total prizes. To win prizes, players get a set of 18 letters, which they use to match with those found on the crossword puzzle. If they match three or more words, they win the corresponding amount found on the prize legend. Players also have the opportunity to match all of their letters in bonus area to win the prize shown. More than 163,000 total prizes between $10 and $40 can be won in the game.

Big Money, the newest $2 game, offers players five chances to win the top prize of $40,000. Revealing a “Big” symbol on a ticket wins all 10 prizes instantly. The game has more than $6.7 million in total prizes.

Best of luck everyone!

HOW COME THIS "NEW GAMES" BLOG HASN'T BEEN UPDATED? IN ONE OF THE OTHER BLOGS IT SAID *CHERRY TWIST* WAS THE NEWEST GAME OUT AND IT CAME OUT ON THE 9TH! OH, AND I READ ON HEAR SOMEONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE "CROSSWORD" GAME BEING WORTHLESS. WELL I'VE GOT ONE TO MATCH THAT! TO MY ENJOYMENT ONE DAY I FOUND THE BINGO TICKETS AND BEING THE KINDA "SCRATCHER" I AM I WAS EXCITED TO FIND A TICKET THAT CAUSED FOR A LITTLE MORE TIME AND CONCENTRATION. WELL I'M ABOUT 30 TICKETS IN AND I HAVE ONLY HAD 2 WINNERS. 1 FOR $5 AND 1 FOR $10, AND NOT ONE BONUS CARD EVER! NORMALLY I WOULD CHALK THAT UP TO AS YA'LL SAY 'BAD LUCK' BUT A FRIEND OF MINE HAS FOUND GREAT JOY IN PLAYING BINGO TO AND HAS PLAYED AS MUCH IF NOT.MORE THAN ME & NEVER HAD A WIN OF ANY KIND!!! BUT I'M GUESSING THAT'S JUST BAD LUCK TOO??? IDK THOSE SURE AREN'T 1:4.17 NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!

6/27/2013 08:11 - Brian D.

I would have to agree with that. However when I purchased a roll of 20's once I went 7 "seven" in a row before a win. but then there was 4 or 5 in a row winning tickets.

6/27/2013 05:38 - CHRISTINA S.

I typically buy my scratch offs in subsequent order. Coming from another state, I've never saw it where you can buy so many tickets in a row and there's NO winner. Especially if you buy 6 $20 or $10 in a row....I understand the odds are random, but the tickets should least include more break even winners. Very discouraging to keep playing with the odds as they are.

6/25/2013 10:29 - NC Lottery

@ SCRATCHMAN - We try to offer a range of games for players with different preferences. We understand you're not alone in your opinion, but if you were to ask other lottery players across the country if they'd play a $20 scratch-off game that had a $100,000 top prize, you would probably get some interesting answers!

6/25/2013 07:53 - Brian D.

I like to see the next 20 dollar ticket have odds well below 3.00. I would also like to see more prizes well below the top prize. Instead of three 4 million dollar top prize. Let the top prize be 100,000 or something. we can have 200x more 50, 100, 500, even 1000 prizes. same payback percentage and added motivation to keep playing. I mean lets face it. the top prize will never happen.

6/24/2013 02:46 - NC Lottery

@ PLAYER (BD3) - The lottery first attempts to notify winners of Lucke-Rewards drawings at the e-mail address associated with their Lucke-Zone account, usually within 48 hours of the drawing. If the winner doesn't respond to e-mail, we attempt to reach them by telephone, then certified mail if necessary. A winner's name is only announced after he/she responds to notification and completes the claim process.

6/23/2013 04:21 - Belinda D.

When entering the lucke-rewards entry codes; how will I know if I have won?

4/29/2013 10:14 - NC Lottery

@ YVONNE - Everyone in the state has the same chance of winning a prize no matter where you live or play. If you were to stand watch at two different retailers, one that sells 1,000 tickets a day, and one that sells 10 tickets a day... you might be more likely to see a winning ticket sold at the place that sells 100x more tickets... but that doesn't make that store luckier. There are just more chances being taken. Players in Morehead City have no better or worse chance to win than players anywhere else. Good luck to you!

4/28/2013 12:05 - yvonne w.

are roles of tickets that go to retailers including morehead city have the same odds of winning or losing as do all tickets distributed in the state of NC, some retailers say they have hardly any winners compared to other retailers

4/26/2013 02:13 - NC Lottery

@ FO-C-US - There are already about 435 self-service machines across the state that allow players (with proof of age) to buy tickets for draw Powerball and Mega Millions. We hope to introduce more of them at more locations as time goes on :-)

4/26/2013 01:25 - steven l.

@lucke-zone are there any plans for self serve powerball and mega millions machines in the future in nc have seen them in other states and was wondering if they may be coming here.

4/26/2013 08:18 - NC Lottery

@ PLAYER (J) - The lottery hopes to gradually introduce self-service ticket scanners at some point :-)

4/24/2013 06:21 - jerrad C.

is there a way to check you tickets to see if you win without having them scanned at the store?

4/16/2013 09:23 - NC Lottery

@ LUCKYME38 - You're the third player to ask us this question on various blog entries :-) It is different from the other $10 games in that way, but it also has one additional play feature that most $10 games don't have. But either way it has no effect, positive or negative, on the odds of winning. Good luck!

4/15/2013 08:44 - Doris W.

Why does the new $10 Monopoly game have only 5 winning numbers? All the other $10 games I've played have 6 winning numbers.

4/08/2013 04:55 - NC Lottery

@ JULIA0202 - Thanks for the question. There are not any new $20 games coming out for the rest of the fiscal year, which ends on June 30. We're bound to have a new one later this year though - stay tuned! :-)

4/08/2013 12:59 - JULIA J.

My retailer tells me that only two $20 scratch off tickets remain since the other two are sold out. Any new $20.00 scratch off coming out soon and if so will it have a particular theme?

4/01/2013 03:01 - NC Lottery

@ DAVIDKEITH - The chances of winning on the first ticket on a roll of tickets are no different than any other ticket, the winning tickets are distributed at random throughout the entire game. Good luck no matter which ticket you try! :-)

3/31/2013 12:48 - David H.

Hello Ncel, As has been stated in this blog, I am not spreading misery on others just stating a fact, here goes.I have been scratching since day one, and one thing that stands out to me is on a new roll, I got another one last night, and guess what I got 000 the first one on a new roll, it was a 10.00 cash spectacular,, sometimes the store operator asks if I want to play it..I say sure. You never know. Out of the 99 first tickets I have played, 1 wax a winner, not a winner just got my money back,,10.00. I will think hard about playing the first ticket on a new roll it does not pay off, from my experience. Come on ncel mix it up a little. If I win on the first ticket I would keep playing that roll.

2/28/2013 05:10 - Daniel W.

To anyone who wins $1000 or more, a friend of mine told me that you can claim the same amount as a loss. So if you won $5000 or more you can claim up to $5000 as a loss. So in addition to 2d chance drawings that's another good reason to keep your losing tickets if you hit big.

2/22/2013 01:48 - Monte W.

A theory suggests if one is to buy a large number of one particular instant ticket it would be better to get them all at the same store, giving one multiple chances at one place. The theory is one would be taking advantage of the odds more so than only having one chance at a lot of different places. One would be relying on that ONE ticket to be the winner.

2/15/2013 09:24 - mike b.

dont sleep on those crosswords

2/15/2013 02:26 - NC Lottery

@ MOWALLJR - We know that you were being sincere. We also encourage folks to make informed decisions about playing games of chance. Thank you for caring about your fellow players and for participating in the Lucke-Zone community :-)

2/15/2013 01:57 - Monte W.

Lucke Zone, With all due respect, and no disrespect intended for anyone,,everything I said was with love in my heart and aimed at helping folks to think about what they say and maybe they might feel better about things. I guess I wish positive thinking for everyone. Paraphrased,it has been said, "what ever a man speaks he shall speak into existence." When ever I buy a ticket I claim it as a winner instead of thinking "oh well I bought another loser". Again no malice was intended and it was meant as mild constructive criticism.

2/15/2013 07:41 - NC Lottery

@ PLAYERJOANN - Sorry to hear you didn't have good luck on those tickets

2/15/2013 12:53 - joan b.

well i bought 10 of the 20 dollar new game for 4 million and i dident win one red cent. i think they are duds. and i got them at different stores. makes me sick. not even 20.00

2/13/2013 02:53 - NC Lottery

@ PLAYER (WO2) - If a winner did not want the $4 million prize paid out as an annuity over 20 years, the one-time lump sum value of the prize is $2.4 million. Just as with any lottery prize of $5,000 or more, the lottery is required to withhold estimated taxes of 25% federal and 7% state. So the after-tax value of the lump sum is approximately $1.6 million.

2/13/2013 01:06 - NC Lottery

@ CLOVERLADY - A Lucke-Zone member can win a maximum of one prize in any one Lucke Rewards drawing. But winners may still enter as many other drawings as they like for a chance to win. If the lottery contacts you by e-mail, telephone, or direct mail, you will always be given instructions on how to reach us to confirm your good luck.

2/13/2013 01:03 - NC Lottery

@ EARL2212 - Actually, the odds on $1 games tend to be longer than the odds on games that cost more. In gaming, the risk (ticket cost) is usually in proportion to the potential reward (odds of winning a prize). For example, the $1 game "SPADES" has approximate overall odds of winning a breakeven prize of 1 in 4.73, where as the $10 game Ruby Red 7's has overall odds of winning a breakeven prize of 1 in 3.33 - which means a better chance of winning. In lottery games, there will always be many more non-winning tickets than winning tickets, that's what makes it possible to have the chance to win prizes - the prize money comes from ticket purchases. If that sounds like fun to you, we hope you enjoy playing; if not, lottery games are just one entertainment option for you! :-)

2/13/2013 12:59 - NC Lottery

@ MOWALLJR - We respect everyone's opinions and views, but just a gentle reminder that we encourage Lucke-Zone members to be kind to other Lucke-Zone members in their comments. We understand some players will have criticisms of the lottery, but we want to make sure that conversations between players stay as nice as possible :-)

2/13/2013 12:46 - NC Lottery

@ 1ROCK2KING - No worries! :-)

2/13/2013 11:23 - Roger K.

sorry! just delete my last comment! I went to the scratch off site, and I seen where the lowest prize is 10 dollars on the ruby red 7's! sorry my mistake...

2/13/2013 10:46 - Chris S.

8,400,000 tickets if I remember correctly for the new $20 game

2/12/2013 01:32 - Monte W.

I think if something irritated me enough to make me whine and cry about it, I'd just not do that thing especially if it is a choice and I am not forced to do that thing. It's like if you choose to walk through a thorn bush instead of around it, then you should not complain about the thorns that stick you. Also why must one run others down to try to make themselves feel better about their misery!

2/12/2013 11:51 - m. earl b.

please!!! tell me how many non-winning tickets are made per-game. i bought 6 five dollar tickets last week at different stores and they ALL were losers. as i said before i am keeping a record this year. i am sticking with the 1dollar tickets because the odds are better. i buy them by tens. most time i break even. i won 1k on one roll and got 930 after taxes and now i have to file my statement this year so the feds will get their money. i wonder how much will i really get in the end. hopefully more then the ten dollars i invested(smile).

2/12/2013 11:40 - Tracey G.

is it possible to.win more then one lucke reward.drawing at the same time and how do u contact the lottery back if they contact you about a drawing prize?

2/12/2013 11:32 - NC Lottery

@ NOEL - To calculate that, all you have to do is visit a particular game's page on our website, click on the How To Play, and use the Prize Chart to multiply any one of the prize level total prizes by the odds for that prize level.

2/12/2013 11:23 - NC Lottery

@ STEWIEHEAD - The NCEL pays out a higher amount on instant games than it did when the lottery began in 2006. We wish you luck if you choose to play games of chance in North Carolina or anywhere else!

2/12/2013 11:22 - NC Lottery

@ SMILLER - Think about it this way: A $600,000 investment today would begin accruing interest, which would make it possible to pay out $1 million in $50,000 amounts over 20 years. Since the winner chose the lump sum, the $400,000 growth from $600,000 to a $1 million prize didn't disappear, it just never happened. Does that make sense? :-)

2/12/2013 11:07 - NC Lottery

@ PLAYER (TRU) - There isn't a second-chance drawing as part of the $200,000 a Year for Life game. Thanks for your question and good luck!

2/12/2013 10:59 - NC Lottery

@ JEFF - Where a winning ticket could be is all a matter of luck.. we wish you the best of luck!

2/12/2013 10:54 - NC Lottery

@ PLAYER (NL) - The names of winners in Lucke Rewards drawings are announced only after the lottery is able to successfully contact them, and only after the winner then completes the claim process. An announcement will be made as soon as possible.

2/12/2013 10:51 - NC Lottery

To the crossword players - good luck, guys! :-)

2/12/2013 10:04 - SANDRA B.

I enjoy playing the crosswords and would definitely love to have the opportunity to choose an annuity----that means I finally won big!!!

2/12/2013 10:04 - Vicky L.

I do not like the crossword scratchers either, but no one is forced to buy any of them,so why complain about it,some people like them,so,that is their choice, and there are plenty of choices to make that is not a crossword.

2/12/2013 09:37 - Lennetta J.

although i love the crossword puzzles i notice a pattern with the red hot crosswords no matter what store you buy them from it seems that all the rolls of tickets have the same ones, and the prizes from these tickets are very small

2/12/2013 09:14 - norman p.

When are the second chance winners anounced from the 2-06-2013 drawing and when are they posted?

2/12/2013 08:58 - Roger K.

WOW!! 3 top prizes of 4 million! 100 counties in NC, there's about 6,400 stores that offer the lottery in NC. I have not purchase a 20.00 dollar ticket in a very long time. Guess with the top prize at 4 million, might have to get some. After taking the cash option, and after taxes, should be a good payday.

2/12/2013 08:41 - Thach V.

I know....I would love to choose between an annuity or a lump sum...just hand me the ticket...please...and let it be a big $4,000,000 winner!

2/11/2013 11:10 - Louis F.

I'm ready to win - ANYTHING, I mean ANYTHING!!!!

2/11/2013 10:06 - Michael S.

Have to wonder what would be the lump sum and then after taxes take home of the 4 million $$ grand prize?

2/11/2013 10:01 - Gladys G.

I pray they will pay better than the other games. Especially the new 10.00 Ruby Red Seven. Too many loosing ticket. I am glad this 20.00 ticket is not a break even ticket, if I understand it correct.

2/11/2013 07:47 - Shawn V.

Is there anyway that we can see by game how many TOTAL tickets are printed along with the odds (which NCLE does provide)???? I would be very interesting to know for example, that while there will be 3 4M winner, 10 $50,000, etc, but also that 5 million tickets are printed and show the count, just like they do for remaining dollar left!! Would this not be more realistic for the players??

2/11/2013 07:37 - jeff l.

where can you buy a winning ticket?

2/11/2013 07:30 - Christopher J.

Hello Lucke-Zone, Will there be a 2nd Chance drawing for the "200k a year for life" tickets once all the grand prizes are gone? Thank you!

2/11/2013 07:25 - Craig H.

SINCE THE SCRATCH-OFFS FIRST CAME OUT THE ODDS KEEP GOING HIGHER AND HIGHER. BAIT AND SWITCH

2/11/2013 07:24 - Christopher J.

Hello Lucke-Zone, Will there be a 2nd Chance drawing for the "200k a year for life" tickets once all the grand prizes are gone? Thank you!

2/11/2013 06:36 - Scott M.

I have a question. Why is it that you win a Million dollars like the guy on Ruby 7s but he takes the lump sum option, however he is taxed on the amount of $600,000 not the 1 million. Where is the other $400,000 going that he actually should have been taxed on since he won the top prize of a million?

2/11/2013 06:29 - June P.

I LOVE the Crossword games especially, as well as most of the other extended play tickets. I feel like I am getting some amusement for my money, even if I don't win. I play the Crossword games regularly and dan't wait to start playing the newest one.

2/11/2013 05:29 - NC Lottery

@ GRASSHOPPER - Don't you agree that's a choice most people would enjoy having the chance to make?

2/11/2013 04:29 - jonathan p.

Great, another game for us to have to choose between an annuity, or a lump sum.

2/11/2013 04:10 - NC Lottery

@ REDROOSTER4 - We're going to be posting a blog about that soon! Stay tuned :-)

2/11/2013 04:10 - NC Lottery

@ HOOT - Some lottery players enjoy the "extended play" experience of a crossword game. The good news is that, since crossword-themed games arent for you, there are lots of other options! Good luck on whatever game you like

2/11/2013 04:09 - Tiffany A. S.

cant wait to play!!

2/11/2013 03:45 - larry g.

I wish you would throw these crossword games in the trash. Who ideal was this???

2/11/2013 03:01 - Terry B.
