Since the Holiday Millions scratch-off game started last fall, players have wanted to know when the drawing would be held for $3 million – the largest second chance prize in NCEL history.
Now we know, and so will you!
The $3 million drawing will be held on Wednesday, April 3. The deadline to enter non-winning Holiday Millions tickets here in the Lucke-Zone is Sunday, March 31.
The $3 million will not only set a new record for the largest prize of its kind, it will triple it. Currently, the winner of the largest second chance prize in NCEL history is Rodney Queen of Kernersville. His entry in the Carolina Gold second chance drawing won him $1 million in March of 2012.
The Holiday Millions second chance drawing winner will choose to receive the $3 million prize in annual installments of $150,000 over the next 20 years, or a one-time $1.8 million lump sum payment. For more details on the drawing, visit the Second Chance page.
So far, Lucke-Zone members have made more than 218,490 entries. The odds of winning the $3 million prize depend on the number of eligible entries made before the deadline. Best of luck, and remember to enter your non-winning Holiday Millions tickets before 11:59 p.m. on March 31.
[Update on 2/7/13: Several Lucke-Zone members have asked about how the notification and announcement of this lucky drawing winner will work. The lottery will attempt to reach the winner by telephone - multiple calls if necessary. Remember that the NCEL will never ask for your bank information on the phone, and will always invite the winner to call us back here at headquarters to confirm that the call is legit. If phone attempts are unsucccessful, the lottery would then send a certified letter. Once the winner is successfully reached, the winner page here in the Lucke-Zone will state that the winner has been notified. The announcement of the winner's name, however, could still be days away at that point. This is because the winner must complete the claim process here at NCEL headquarters. We understand there will be significant interest in the results of the drawing, but we hope this info helps explain the timetable for that.]
