Alexander County man ‘amazed’ to win $5,000 twice

For Todd Lail, an electrician from Taylorsville, lightning didn’t strike twice – luck did. He won a pair of $5,000 prizes playing the $4,000,000 Cash Blowout and $4,000,000 Gold Bullion instant games.

Lail traveled to the lottery’s regional claim center in Charlotte to collect his prize money. There, he said he was “amazed” when he realized he won, and plans to put his winnings into savings. He purchased his winning tickets at the Propst Superette on Old Wilkesboro Road in Taylorsville.

@ MOWALLJR - When a player tells us they observed something happen at a store, we want to get that information from the player so that we can possibly ask the store or our sales reps for more information, too.

$750,000 Jumbo Bucks Feb 25, 2013 Cosme Padilla Lanza Scotchman #175, Rose Hill, NC according to the XL file on the winners page this would be who and where player is speaking of. Seems like the beginning of an urban legend to me!

I have a question, after the man won the 750,000 in Rose Hill the lottery staff came and picked up the role for that ticket, why is that? Is this normal procedure once there is a big win on a ticket?

What luck! woman from Lumberton,NC comes to Hamlet,NC and scratches off a 150,000 dollar ticket.I bought tickets from there a many of times. Just not that day, congrats to you lady! Congrats to the Rose Hill man also! 750,000 dollars is a good win! Would love to win that much. Bought my first 10.00 dollar ticket last night, did win 15.00 bucks off it. Going to get another one later today! Maybe this one will be the BIG winner!My cash5 and Mega Millions had no wins on them, but I did enter them though!

All I can say is congrats and WOW WEE ! 2 winning 5k tics in the same store on the same day. Better then those 2 lucky ladies who won $500 in back to back weeks in the 2nd chance drawings. Lady luck was with that day !
