Check those pockets: $1 million Powerball ticket expiring soon

Did you or someone you know buy a Powerball ticket in Matthews last September? If so, you may be holding a ticket worth $1 million that is set to expire in one week’s time.

The ticket was purchased for the Sept. 19, 2012 Powerball drawing and will expire on Monday, March 18. The selling retailer is the Adams Mart at 11130 East Independence Boulevard in Matthews.

The ticket matched five white balls in the drawing, which were 1 - 5 - 8 - 39 - 50.

To claim the $1 million prize, the ticket must be presented at N.C. Education Lottery headquarters in Raleigh by 5 p.m. on March 18. The deadline ends the 180-day period for winners to claim a prize.

We’d hate to see this lucky ticket go unclaimed, so check your pockets and help us spread the word!

The problem I was having with the screen turning gray after a ticket was submitted is fixed,, thanks NCEL, no extra clicking anymore .

i am having the same issue as the lats poster about the screen turning gray as well i hope it gets fixed soon bad enough that you had to keep clicking on the instant ticket entry after they added the draw games i will give the tech support a call as well see if it is on my end or theirs

I donor not know where to place this comment,on the Uck zone page when you go to enter tickets there is two categories scratch off and draw,, ok when I go to enter my ticket it accepts it then the window stays gray, the entry forms don't come back, I have to click on ticket entry to get back there. It just started this a few days ago,is this something on my nd or is it oven the ncel site need tweaking, just asking, it still works just a little more effort on my end, I will still play. Thank you.

It makes me feel like something happen to that person. and they cant claim the money anything is possible. then too once they claim the money the state going to take from them

@ KINGRALPH - We don't know the story of what happened to the ticket after it was purchased. When a player buys a ticket, there's always a hope that it will win a prize, and we encourage everyone to sign their tickets and keep track of them, but we're all capable of making a mistake! :-)

Whoever is holding the powerball winning ticket needs to check there ticket. I sure wished it was me that had the powerball winning ticket because if it was me, i would walk right off my job without giving a notice to the company i work for and this is the truth.

@ OHIO85 - If the ticket goes unclaimed (and we do hope to meet the winner in time), half the money would go back into the prize pool that playres would have the chance to win, and the other half would benefit education programs in North Carolina :-)

Check every ticket of every drawing every single time people. I think the state gets the money if not claimed and the store that sold it will not get its cut? (True or False?)
