Though this weekend’s $338 million jackpot went to a ticket sold in New Jersey, North Carolina Powerball players certainly made their mark. Saturday’s drawing lead led to the following big winning tickets:
- $1 million ticket sold at the Food Lion on Williamson Road in Mooresville.
- $40,000 ticket sold at the Scotchman on Carolina Beach road in Wilmington.
- $10,000 ticket sold at the Murphy USA on New Pointe Boulevard in Leland.
- $10,000 ticket sold at the JB Express on Randleman Road in Greensboro.
- $10,000 ticket sold at the Market Express on Weddington-Monroe Road in Matthews.
Overall, Saturday’s drawing paid out more than $1.5 million in prizes to more than 69,000 tickets.
Besides Powerball winners, there was more good luck Saturday night. Two Carolina Cash 5 tickets matched all five numbers and split the $50,000 jackpot. The tickets were sold at K G’s Quik Stop on U.S. 221 in Marion and at the Kangaroo Express on West Williams Street in Apex.
Another Cash 5 jackpot was won Friday night. The ticket, worth $114,957, was sold at the Handy Mart on West Corbett Avenue in Swanson.
Winner wrap up
Last week brought some big winners, and the biggest went to Danny and Stephanie Crase of Raleigh. They plan to use the $2 million prize they won playing Powerball to fund grandkids’ education. "I saw all those numbers staring me in the face," Danny Crase said. "It was an extreme surprise, to say the least.”
Benjamin Green of Star said he plans to take an island vacation with $1 million prize he won playing $4,000,000 Gold Bullion. “When I saw the ‘win’ symbol I thought I had won maybe forty dollars,” Green explained. “When I saw it was a big winner, I started screaming."
In the western part of the state, Bruce Annas of Granite Falls and Paul Herman of Hickory split the $200,000 top prize on their Power 7’s ticket.
Winning big on a lottery ticket can lead to a lot of emotions all at once. Charlynn Schultz of Winston-Salem described her $135,370 Cash 5 win as an out of body experience. "I didn’t know where I was for a minute," Schultz said. "It was just surreal, like a wave coming over me.”
Finally, the winner of the Lucke-Zone’s $25,000 Sweet Rewards drawing is Bruce Stuckey of Castle Hayne. “I was just in disbelief when I found out I’d won,” said Stuckey, who works for the Le Bleu water bottling company. He plans to use his winnings to make improvements on his home.
That just about wraps up our wrap-up. Have a safe and lucky week, everyone!
