Biggest Cash 5 ticket in history sold in Wake County

A store in Zebulon sold a lucky ticket that won Sunday’s $1,144,821 Carolina Cash 5 jackpot, the largest ever won by a single ticket. The ticket, sold at the One Stop Shop on Mitchell Mill Road, beat odds of 1 in 575,757 to win the jackpot. The winning numbers drawn were 24-26-30-32-33.

Ticket sales for Sunday’s drawing pushed the final jackpot amount higher than the $1,070,000 estimate. Besides the jackpot, players who matched two, three or four numbers won $185,921 in total prizes. Ticketholders have 180 days to claim their winnings.

Only one Carolina Cash 5 jackpot has ever been larger than Sunday’s. Three lucky tickets split a $1,355,000 jackpot in the May of 2011. The previous record-holder for the largest Carolina Cash 5 jackpot ever awarded on a single ticket was a Greenville player who won $856,998 in November of 2007.

@ DWATKINS - The results of Pick 4 drawings are random. The chances of any particular number combination being the winning one in a Pick 4 drawing are 1 in 10,000... whether or not a "quad" was drawn recently or not does not make it any more or less likely that a "quad" will be drawn in a future drawing. It's all a matter of luck, and we wish everyone with a ticket the best of luck!

3/12/2013 07:32 - dorothy w.

In pick 4 why don't they let a pair of 5555 or 4444 drop some time last only drop two time in a whole year , I think we are gettig in this game.

3/12/2013 03:41 - Monte W.

DrMinipark, I had similar things happen. Played a set of pick four #'s for about 2 months and then on a whim I used a set that I had seen several times on one day. Street addresses, sales amount in store, the time on a digital clock things like that. Those four digits in the same order was all around me. Well should have played the 4 digits I had been using for so long,, cause they hit and the numbers I had been seeing weren't even close. Missed out on $30,200.00 that night (5 exacts and 2 50/50) Oh well "play on America". Also average 4-5 nights/week of being one digit off, last night on 2 different tickets. 5K either way! C'est la vie!

I have been playing the NC Lottery since its beginning. I have come close to winning numerous of times, but unfortunately I did not consistently play my numbers. One drawing I would have won a share of $12 million dollars. The other time I would have won $10,000.00. I also would have won the cash 5 three times. I was so close to winning, but I did not play those numbers consistently. I'm sure quite a few players have done this before. If you don't want to lose your money, don't play. Life is full of risks and we must continue to take them everyday. Good Luck and look forward to the next NC big winner. Looking for it to be me. DrMinipark in 2013......

@ BKEARNEY220 - You have the same chance of winning playing lottery games no matter where you buy your tickets. We wish you the best of luck!

3/07/2013 09:01 - Barbara K.

Thanks for the info on how to look up Youngsville winners.I will start buying my tickets elsewhere as Youngsville winners are pitiful.I may move, this is just awful,I never realized we were so sad.

3/07/2013 02:34 - Monte W.

I said nothing condemning, rude or condescending to any one person. I spoke in general of NCEL being wrongly accused of being crooked or showing favoritism and a how I felt them fair. Seem it hit a nerve on some. I don’t work for NCEL, but I believe in fairness. Unlike those who accused NCEL and some winners of being in illegal concert, I have not directly or specifically accused anyone. I chose my words carefully using my free speech rights accordingly. Am to write only what others would rather I say? If so, then that right is not applicable here. If others can make slanderous false accusations, then why can't I be speak honestly in defense and not be dressed down, while the wild accusations are made without consequence. I have a law background and the oral or written ‘defamatory public accusations’ made by some should be considered if one looks up the definition of slander.

@ BKEARNEY220 - Here is a link you can copy and paste to see some info about winners from the Youngsville area: http://bit.ly/W8gZ2f

You talk about luck, to win the lottery once is a dream but twice?

You talk about luck, to win the lottery once is a dream but twice?

3/07/2013 10:55 - Barbara K.

What is the link so I can see how many winners we have had in the town of Youngsville. Zebulon is a small/poorer town.I was surprised that a farmer from their was the big cash 5 winner.I think it was great that someone won on that side of Wake County.

3/06/2013 10:41 - bradley s.

i hit 4 out of 5 wednesday night, i was only 3 digits away from hitting the big one..lol..i would prolly have a heart attack anyways and whoever found my body would be rich..after they got the ticket out of my hand, but i would haunt them..lol

3/06/2013 11:10 - Godner B.

First and foremost - Congrats to the winner of the cash 5 lottery game. It must be a euphoric feeling/rush to know you are a jackpot winner. Secondly, Thank you NCEL & LUCKE-ZONE for the opportunities for us all to win some money every week. Most of us have not crossed the threshold of being a big winner (Or a winner at all) but there is a chance. And that is just what it is - A Chance. The Cash 5 & Powerball are tonight. 'You Never Know' I pray/hope someone from NC can hit tonight (Powerball). We all have 101 things we need/want to do with millions of dollars. The lottery is a chance to obtain those dollars in one swoop. 6 numbers is all it takes for PB. I know the odds. But I rearrange the odds to where it boils down to 6 numbers. Hit Or Miss. The odds of the combinations of numbers do not discourage me. 'Two Dollars, Six numbers And A Dream'

@ DENVERG9 - We respect everyone's opinions, including yours, but we have to remind you to please be polite toward other players in your comments, and please be respectful of the fact that other players may not see things the same way as you. We want the Lucke-Zone to be a place where everyone feels welcome to come read about lottery news and share their comments - including you! :-)

3/06/2013 09:53 - NC Lottery

@ DEEP1 - We don't mind you posting or being critical of the lottery, we just want you to know that there's nothing we can do to give anyone a better chance of winning in a Cash 5 drawing... your set of #'s have the same 1 in 575,757 chance of being drawn as anybody else's each night!!! Good luck!!! :-)

3/06/2013 09:48 - NC Lottery

@ HEELANDER - We're pretty convinced that this question/answer/conversation will never end. The reason is because it takes a lot of luck to win whether you live in a big place or a small place. The odds of winning are the same for everyone, but play out more often in places with more people and more stores. But again, that doesnt mean any one person has a better or worse chance to win; a big-winning ticket could show up anywhere, anytime.

3/05/2013 10:56 - Ricky A.

Not long now.

3/05/2013 07:58 - John B.

The cash five ticket used to say where the winning tick was from the previous day. I dont see it anymore on the ticket. Also about a year ago I looked up about 50 winners "in order" and plotted them in google maps/ Four sequential jackpot winners were about 20 miles from each other. I do know that people win from all over the state but it is the frequency or infrequency that makes you wonder. Now maybe people from goldsboro, cary, durham, wilson just play more frequent or more times than the people from charlotte, asheville....cause I do not see charlotte or its surrounding towns win very often compared to its population.

3/05/2013 07:57 - John B.

I dont think that the lottery is rigged but do understand peoples concerns. People do win from all over but it seems that 90% of jackpot winners are east of greensboro

3/05/2013 06:36 - Michael R.

I've been playing the same set of Cash 5 numbers for just about every draw since NC started the Cash 5. If you bring my set of numbers I will never post here again or be critical of the lottery. lol... The first two numbers are 10 and 13. Make it happen NC!!

3/05/2013 05:15 - Denver G.

To all those negative people.Do ya want a little cheese with that whine ? Get real. If you don't want to play, don't ! Only positive people win ! It's called carma. What goes around comes around. Don't pray to God you will win, It don't work that way !

3/05/2013 03:58 - NC Lottery

@ DEEP1 - Being lucky enough to win the lottery once doesn't disqualify that person from being able to take a chance to beat the odds again. It is remarkable luck, but then again so is beating odds of 1 in 175 million to win a Powerball jackpot, and that's happened three times in NC, too. Everyone's tickets have the same chance to win, its all luck. We wish you the best of luck!

3/05/2013 03:56 - NC Lottery

@ DEEP1 and @ MOWALLJR - The community rules are that everyone's allowed to have an opinion, whether its critical of or supportive of the lottery. Another player's comments are allowed to be annoying to other players too. But its important for players (and for us) not to be rude to one another. Different points of view are welcome, we don't have to see eye to eye on everything.

3/05/2013 12:54 - Michael R.

MowallJR, who made you the Lucke-Zone spokesman? Are you working inside the lottery headquarters? Stop trying to answer questions when posters are asking Lucke-Zone, or posters are questioning why winners aren't in certain areas. It's irritating.

3/05/2013 12:05 - Michael R.

The same guy that won $400,000 a while back turn around an win $1,000,000? This is the reason I hate the lottery. Five million people playing for a chance at a one time dream and the same guy wins it twice on a Cash Five?

3/05/2013 11:49 - Terry B.

Player,Zebulon is east of Raleigh. Not NORTH...

3/05/2013 11:32 - NC Lottery

@ DWMNY74 - Sorry, we can't allow comments in the Lucke-Zone that are cruel or rude toward other players.

3/05/2013 10:19 - Roger K.

$778,478.28 after taxes, WOWEEE!!!! What a payday! my wife could quit work, we could take our 2nd honeymoon! Buy my truck I've been wanting, my wife wants a new Challenger, pay off our home, put some money in a saving for my grandchild so when he turns 21, he will have some money. Help my two daughters out with some cash, give a little bit to my brother and sisters, some to my wife's sister's. Put the rest in the bank, to draw some interest on. Then do some traveling across AMERICAN!! Hope to do this before I die!!! Just got to win it first!

3/05/2013 09:48 - Amy H.

I hope I see a big fat smile when I see their picture! I hate it when the winners don't look excited about their win! SMILE!!!

3/05/2013 09:25 - NC Lottery

@ MAYBABY - You're entitled to your opinion, but the facts don't support what you're saying about the lottery. Just look at the "NEWS" tab on our website and you'll see winners from all types of different places that don't fit your argument about demographics or distribution. Places with more players and stores have more tickets; not just winning tickets, non-winning tickets, too. Ask someone from one of the places you think has a better chance to win if its easy to win the lottery there - they'll tell you it takes just as much luck as anyplace else. If you'd rather not play the lottery we certainly respect your decision. But it shouldn't be because the lottery isn't fair - our practices and financials are audited to ensure fairness to everyone who plays.

3/05/2013 09:06 - Charlene W.

A lottery games are rigged in all states, not just in North Carolina. The odds of the same man winning the cash 5 six months ago, and then win another huge jack pot proves it. The money from the poor counties is used to make the rich counties richer. It has nothing to do with being lucky. There should be an audit, but who's to say it will be honest. Lottery games have been fixed since they began......the only way to get around it..... stop putting your money in it. Your money is always going to go to make someone else rich. The big winning scratches, the jack pots, are all distributed in designated areas, based on demographics. If you think the lottery is not fixed, you are living in a fantacy world. When I was little, people played the street number, when the lottery began to be controlled by the state... the honesty was lost. The munipulation began. Either to play and spend your money, only to see it go to someone else....or save your money in jar and don't play the lottery.

3/05/2013 08:25 - Stacey F.

thanks for the response....I understand random drawing...and like I said this was a rumor, but, to add more to winnings in the kannapolis area...I know of those winners from kannapolis, but they bought their tickets in other towns and cities surrouding kannapolis, the 3mil winner won in charlotte..another from concord bought in charlotte...kannapolis as a retailer of lotto has not sold a winning ticket "Cash 5 or Powerrball since its inception...

3/05/2013 07:46 - Monte W.

Written by M.Farouk Radwan, MSc. Blaming others for your problems! We all have dealt with people who blame others all the time and who try to be right by making others wrong. Such people are usually afraid to admit that they share a part of the responsibility and so feel more comfortable when someone else carries the blame for a bad thing that happened to them. Sometimes the act of blaming others can be a cry of pain and a request for support. When the person desperately wants someone else to fix something for him he might blame him in order to motivate him to take actions.

3/05/2013 07:36 - Barbara W.

Al of you who complain about certain counties not having big winners in the PICK 4, CASH 5, MEGA-MILLIONS and POWERBALL, the problem is not the NCEL, it is the people in the counties you claim have no big winners ARE NOT PICKING THE WINNING NUMBERS!!! Come on folks,,, here's a theory,,, maybe thiose negative attitudes are causing folks not to win! Instead of making outrageous claims against the lottery, try claiming you are a winner and you are going to win big one day. Make this fun and who knows your positive attitude may make you a winner! I mean WHY play if all one does if complain and make slanderous accusations!. Have fun and spend as much energy finding ways to win as is done finding fault.

3/05/2013 07:29 - Michael G.

Who ever thought of a 25 digit code to enter on the website must not be entering tickets on this site. I have been locked out from entering tickets. The ticket I was trying to enter had 2 parentheses ( ) in the code. When I got locked out (no prewarning) I started looking at the other tickets I was entering. All of them had 2 parentheses except the last one - I could tell - the ticket code didn't print right - I was supposed to be entering 0's - not ( ) which was what printed on the ticket. Please correct so I can start entering tickets again. Why would you permanently lock anybody out?????? It was an error - caused by a misprint on the ticket you sold me. Get real people!!!!!!! Unlock this so I can enter all those tickets I lost on. Probably won't matter anyway nobody from New Bern to the Coast wins these drawings anyway. I just want my 'what do you keep saying out here' equal opportunity to win. Locked out - What's up with that???????????. Good luck to everybody else - I'm locked out!!!!!

3/05/2013 07:15 - Paul S.

I don't understand why so many people are bitter about not winning. You can't rig a game where you pick the numbers....Congratulations to those who win. Period!

3/05/2013 05:51 - Joan S.

Congrads to the winner. My day is at hand! Cumberland county!

3/05/2013 05:21 - Jim C.

A Lucke-Zone member stated the person who won this Cash 5 Jackpot has won before, Is this true????? Thanks

3/05/2013 12:11 - Ken U.

I had a big long comment about how people shouldn't assume there is an evil force hiding in another dimension mismatching their numbers in favor of whoever won, but I decided not to write it.

3/04/2013 11:52 - Amy H.

SURE DO WISH I COULD WIN SOME BIG MONEY LOL

3/04/2013 11:27 - ross s.

Players, Please try to understand a little better the concept of the lottery. Ouick pick nunbers and/or chosen numbers are not won by county or city they are won by individuals that get the luck of the draw by the computer that prints them that then matches the numbers pulled in the. If I hear one more person say "my place doesn't win" I'm going to scream bloody murder. C'mon people, try to understand the concept, please? Sidney Ross

3/04/2013 10:55 - Albert L.

$778,478.28 after taxes. Sweet!

3/04/2013 10:25 - Chris S.

Rock2King is right about checking tickets. Have heard of several people picking up discarded tickets only to learn they are winners. Heck, I had some old tickets I entered for the second chance drawings and low and behold I've had 3 that were winners I had missed. Nothing big but 15-20 bucks a pop is exciting. Checking a bit better now!

3/04/2013 08:55 - NC Lottery

@ NEESEE - Players in Hyde County have the same chance to win a prize as anybody else, its just that there are only about 5,000 North Carolinians in all of Hyde County... there are more than 9,000,000 people living in North Carolina. The lottery's practices are already audited, our records are out in the open - you can make whatever public records request you would like to make.

3/04/2013 08:52 - NC Lottery

@ PLAYER (CC) - Congrats on your Cash 5 win! :-)

3/04/2013 08:47 - NC Lottery

@ KODUCK63 - The ball sets used in Pick 3, Pick 4, and Cash 5 drawings are selected at random before the drawing occurs. Nobody knows which ball sets will be used.

3/04/2013 08:27 - Brian c.

Wow I'm glad to see people stop saying Mecklenburg County always win (Charlotte). Which is definitely not true. Stop playing if you think its RIGGED. Keep playing if you are trying to WIN. I'm getting ready to go buy some scratch-offs right now..

3/04/2013 07:39 - donald c.

i agree if the ball has differentmagnetic or some balls are heavier it could possibly control the number that pops out

3/04/2013 07:37 - Norman C.

Congrats to the big winner!!!! My time is coming soon :-)

3/04/2013 06:48 - Ronnie B.

Another BIG winner in Wake County???? Raleigh again???? Their are 99 other counties in this state!!!

3/04/2013 06:00 - Lisa R.

The person that won this, also won $200000.00 6 months ago on the Cash 5. I know him, but not good enough to hold my hand out. He is an extremely lucky man.

3/04/2013 05:59 - rosalind m.

please

3/04/2013 05:53 - LISA G.

YES I'M REQUESTING FROM THE FEDS A FULL SCALE AUDIT, BECAUSE THIS IS REDICULOUS, WHEN ITS BIG MONEY POTS U SEE THE SAME COUNTIES NOT ONLY ONCE OR TWICE BUT SEVERELY REPETTITIVE EVEN FOR THE SCRATCHOFFS I PURCHASE AS MANY IN THE POOREST COUNTY IN NC AND THAT IS HYDE. AND I HAVE BEEN KEEPING AN ACCOUNT OF IT NEVER EVER SCRATCHOFFS, TAKE 5 NOTHING SINCE IT STARTED IN 2005 ALL BIG WINNERS ARE RIGHT UP THERE OR AROUND THERE AND THAT IS THE HEADQUARTERS SO I WILL B CONTACTING THE FEDERAL LOTTERY COMMISSION 2 REQUEST AN AUDIT.

3/04/2013 05:52 - Roger K.

I stopped at this store today and bought my cash5 for tonight's drawing. I was marking my numbers and seen this small trash can near the place where you fill out tickets at, I saw some already scratch offs tickets laying in trash, so I thought they would be good tickets for me to enter in my Lucke-zone for points. I ask the clerk can I dig them out for me to use in entering my lucke-zone tickets for points. She said ok, so I dug out as many as I could hold, took them home, to enter them in, I went through about all of them, but this one ticket could not be entered. I double check the number, and low and behold it was a winning 5.00 dollar ticket that was thrown in the trash by accident. A 5.00 dollar scratch off. My guess is the person was going to fast to check it out good before it was thrown away. I'm just wandering how many more are thrown away like that in NC. When checking tickets you need to slow down and check them numbers one by one, like I do. Will use that 5 dollars to play cash5 tomorrow night!

3/04/2013 05:48 - rosalind m.

Well I dont play the cash 5, but been playing the powerball from day one since the brought it here, you know how long thats been, been playing the same numbers, out of all that time. Nothing big. Same go for the megamillions , all that time I hit 150 dollars. I wonder why not jackpots in fayetteville, nc.

3/04/2013 05:17 - Carmaline Shaw P.

I am glad that we are able to play and win here at home; just concerned there are not more top prize winners in my area.Congratulations to ALL winners!!

3/04/2013 05:12 - Catherine C.

I played Carolina Cash 5 last week for the first time and won $345. The most I've ever won on all the games and I like the fact it stays in NC. Congrats to the winner and I hope I'm as lucky as you are one day!!!

3/04/2013 04:36 - NC Lottery

@ CUTSHAW - What is interesting is that, if you look at comments throughout the Lucke-Zone blog, you will see every variation on your comment.. some people say its only in the west, other people say its only in the east, some people say only big towns, some people say only small towns. The truth is, it's all a matter of luck no matter where you live, which is why we wish everyone the very best of luck!

3/04/2013 04:35 - NC Lottery

@ KATHYO - We've had winners from your part of North Carolina. The thing is, unless the news covers those winners, or unless you check the news or our website all the time for information about lottery winners, you might miss it! If you copy & paste this link into your web browser, you will find some stories about winners from your area: http://bit.ly/WHL3Et

3/04/2013 04:34 - Eric C.

it does seem the big hots are near the capitol,,even on scratch off tickets,,,as for it possible being rigged,,thats a tough one,,I dont see how you can rig the numbers you want to pop up in that machine the way it moves around in that machine,,,but do you guys not remember about 4 to 5 years ago when cash 5 had a duplicate draw within 2 weeks of each other,,thing is on the second draw set there was 12 winners,,,makes you wonder

3/04/2013 04:32 - katherine o.

I also feel that the big wins come from the eastern part of the state-Raleigh and surrounding areas. I hope it isn't rigged. Our area-Indain Trail, Stallings, Matthews, and Monroe never seem to win. My husband has played the lottery for about 20 years. He was a truck driver fla. to Maine and has never won anything to speak of.

3/04/2013 04:21 - NC Lottery

@ BIG CUZ - The reason the Cash 5 or Powerball jackpot can roll with no 'perfect ticket' is a matter of odds. The odds of any one ticket matching all five numbers drawn in a Carolina Cash 5 drawing are 1 in 575,757. Unless all 575,757 number combinations are being played for a given drawing, there's a chance the jackpot will roll. Same for Powerball except there are 175,223,510 different combinations. The lottery balls are drawn at random. Also here is a link you can copy & paste to see just a few winners from the Kannapolis area: http://bit.ly/14lP533

3/04/2013 04:08 - Stacey F.

I've never seen a winner in Kannapolis..as being bought in Kannapolis....I've heard rumors that the balls have a magnetic frequency..how else can Cash 5 reach so high with no winners...computers can compile millions of variable sets of "numbers that have not been played" in seconds..go figure..just rumors I guess...

3/04/2013 02:57 - Ann J.

I noticed that too Roniux, when the odds are quite high to win once, a few have seemed to beaten the odds by winning twice on those Luck Zone drawings.

3/04/2013 02:53 - Monte W.

Mark, I saw, 10K in Swannanoa; 5K in Asheville; One million dollar in Dana; 40k in Asheville; 10K in Weaverville; 10K Albemarle; 1 million and seven in Clemmons. just to name a few. In scratch offs and drawing games. The lottery is not distributing winners, one has to have the luck to choose the right game and time in order to win. RIGGED DRAW GAMES?? Have you seen a drawing on the TV? How is that rigged? I'm sorry Lucke Zone, but I know your lip must be sore from biting it so much!

3/04/2013 02:50 - Herman P.

Why does it seem like all your big tickets are sold out in the western part of NC. Makes you wonder huh!!!

3/04/2013 02:48 - Sandra L.

If you don't play you won't win for sure.

@ LULEELU - Thanks for playing and good luck to you! As for winners from Chapel Hill, you can copy and paste this link into your web browser for some links to winners from that area: http://bit.ly/WrexWX

@ LOTTOBALL - That is a point we have tried to make many times here in the blog... no one player or one ticket has any advantage over any other, its just that in places with more people and more stores, there are more people trying their luck on more tickets... just because we have winners from big cities or small towns doesn't mean the folks there had any better chance of winning than anybody else

3/04/2013 02:39 - mary d.

i played for 5 days only got a dollar out of the deal. It wasn't my time congrats to the winner God bless you.

3/04/2013 02:35 - Christine W.

Just like everyonrelse iam not giving up i will take anything

3/04/2013 02:28 - Teresa m.

I never see any winners from Chapel Hill. I have been playing from the beginning .....all the games scratch offs and drawings. I am happy for the person that won. Two of those numbers are my children's birthdays and I always play those numbers, just need more children!

3/04/2013 02:24 - Monte W.

@jasmine said Why are the larger amount mostly sold in larger counties? Jasmine, it was no that the ticket was sold in that particular county, it was that a person CHOSE the numbers for the ticket and he happened to be in that county. The tickets are not preset and waiting for a person to come by and buy THE winning ticket. You, me or anyone choose the numbers or if we use quick pick, we choose the particular moment the computer will generate those numbers and if the person who won ah been one fraction of a second slower in buying the set of numbers the computer selected it could have been another person in another county somewhere across the state. Now if the numbers one gets ANYWHERE in the state are not the ones the little balls that pop out of the machine at 11:22pm on any night they do not win. The winning numbers come out AFTER a person buys a ticket!.

CONGRATS TO THE WINNER'' NO ONES PERFECT. STILL TRYING TO WIN SOMETHING TO PAY SOME OF MY BILLS OFF' MAYBE SOME DAY I WILL BE LUCKY?

3/04/2013 01:05 - Lisa G.

Congrats to the winner! God has blessed you. I'm praying for my winfall.

3/04/2013 12:51 - Ronald C.

Don't ever, ever, never give up! Prizes are won because we play the game, and more people playing mean bigger prizes.

3/04/2013 12:43 - david g.

play for the enjoyment of playing. never spent bill money on playing. be happy for those that are lucky enough to hit. feel blessed in what you alread have.

3/04/2013 12:41 - Paul B.

Did you ever think that the odds of the winner coming from a big city is greater because they sell more tickets

3/04/2013 12:28 - Christopher D.

The lottos and the scratch-off are as random as can be you guys. My only concern has been seeing multiple wins by the same people up on the internet drawings, as well as the unclaimed wins which sit there each week. As badly as I could use the win, it's pretty discouraging to see a $2,500 winner get an extra $500 just moments down the road when I've put in quite a bit of work just to afford the opportunity to claim a win for here in Havelock. Oh well...I'm not giving up, that's for sure! Congrats to the winners just the same, maybe lady luck will visit me once she's done refilling your pockets, lol - Chris

3/04/2013 12:15 - Donna L.

Congratulations!!! Wish it could have been me. Enjoy.

3/04/2013 12:08 - NC Lottery

@ ZOEE & MARK - Any player anywhere in North Carolina could have chosen the winning numbers for last night's drawing, but it takes amazing luck to beat odds of 1 in 575,757 to win the Cash 5 jackpot.

3/04/2013 12:05 - Marolyn H.

I agree with mark, they are rigged

3/04/2013 12:00 - wendy b.

Well praise God he is so good!!!! I pray he/she will be a Good steward over this money that they were blessed with...My time is coming soon.

3/04/2013 11:57 - NC Lottery

To everyone who's saying that the Cash 5 winners are "always" in a particular part of the state, please click on the "News" tab of our main website and look back through the past winners since Cash 5 started in October of 2006. You will find that we've had Cash 5 jackpot winners from all different parts of the state. Everyone's tickets have exactly the same chance of winning no matter where you live or play the lottery.

3/04/2013 11:41 - Lynn Q.

Dang it...I had 4 numbers right last night. I almost won the big one, well I'll take my winnings of $296 and buy more cash 5 tickets. I play all the games but never have any luck with megamillions, powerball or pick 4. I've won small amounts on pick 3. I don't ever win with QP's so I mostly play my own. Congrats to the new millionare of Cash 5!!! I've come really close to hitting the jackpot, so I will wait for my turn. Yes, it will happen this year!

3/04/2013 11:30 - Devane B.

All I can say is, I TRIED.

3/04/2013 11:30 - Mark C.

I came close. Hit on two numbers and missed the other three by one digit each. Such is life. Grats to the folks near the Capital that pulled down this big win.

3/04/2013 11:26 - Gregory H.

Manage the money well. So many winners end up bro ke.

3/04/2013 11:19 - Patricia B.

Someone must be very happy, congratulations whoever you are!!

3/04/2013 11:09 - Jackson S.

figures it would be in the north part of the state.

3/04/2013 11:09 - wanda n.

congrats to the winner, its always hit some where far away never near cleveland county guess our money isnt good enough

3/04/2013 11:08 - Mark B.

Why is it that all the big wins in the NCEL always happen in the central to eastern counties. Do they not send any large scratch off to the western end of the state and have they rigged the draw games to only pull numbers from the east. Think about it when was the last BIG win in the western end of the state. We buy tickets up here too ya know.

3/04/2013 11:00 - Roger K.

Congrats to the holder of this ticket. I kinda wish it was a multiple ticket winners. I KNOW IT WAS NOT LITTLE OLE ME!!! I had a feeling the numbers was going to be higher up numbers, Just didn't play my higher numbers. The numbers I have didn't match any of them anyway!!! Will keep on trying for the 50,000 thousand tonight!

3/04/2013 11:00 - Emma E.

Why are the larger amount mostly sold in larger counties? I think at least more than one ticket should be sold. Robeson County is one of the poorest counties in North Carolina and my belief is that tickets should be spread among counties to boost their income in poor counties.
