Whiteville grocery manager wins $10,000 scratch-off prize

Edward Ward Jr., a grocery manager from Whiteville, said he was “really excited” when he scratched off a $10,000 prize playing Hot Streak. He plans to pay bills and buy a new cell phone with the winnings from his lucky $5 ticket. Ward purchased the ticket at Hill’s Food Store on Sam Pott’s Highway in Lake Waccamaw.

Whiteville is no stranger to big lottery wins. Four other Whiteville residents have won between $5,000 and $100,000 playing instant scratch-off games. The biggest win in Whiteville history came in 2008 when a Powerball player matched all five white balls and won $2 million on a $2 Power Play ticket.

@ TURBO - It's tough to tell on the internet when folks are kidding around versus really needing information or assitance, so we do our best to assume that Lucke-Zone members sincerely need a factual response from us... even if that means we wind up saying some of the same things over and over! :-D

When you enter a drawing you get a email verifing your entry. I receive emails daily from the NCEL, so I know they have my correct email. It's all good as we say in the south. I just want everyone else to stop hounding the moderators. You guys put up with a lot of bull. And I think a lot of these players are just playing with you and jerking your chain :-)

@ TURBO - Make sure to check the e-mail account associated with your Lucke-Zone account, because that's the first way the lottery tries to contact Lucke-Rewards winners. We wish everyone could win, but since they cannot, we'll just wish you and everyone the very best of luck!

I agree no email, no call, means I did not win. The IRS is really the only ones who need the winners names LOL. We all know they get more then their share. If I win BIG , I would be very happy to take my 68%. I will party like it is 1999. Back when I could afford a gallon of gas.

@ FATSO - We absolutely follow the same process for winner notification today that we did when Lucke-Rewards began. We've tried to answer this question for you before, as well. Notification of winners in Lucke-Rewards drawings usually begins within 48 hours of the drawing date. Winners must respond to our notification - first we attempt e-mail, then phone, then certified mail. Then the winner must complete the claim process before any announcement is made. This process can take many days. You can check here in the Lucke-Zone anytime you like to review past winners of Lucke-Rewards drawings. We understand why you're interested and excited, and we work as quickly as we can to provide accurate information. Good luck!

Why is Lucke Zone posting drawing dates but when the date rolls around there are no winners to view due to notification purpose. When does Lucke-Zone start the notifying potential winners on or before time? You would think by now Lucke-Zone has worked all the kinks out by now. It's a lot of us that have been playing since day one. It's time to adhere to the rules and regulations as you expect from the players. Do you not agree? in the same manner you are having the players adhere to. Would you not agree?

@ RON - Since we've added Lucke-Rewards drawings that give Lucke-Zone members more chances to win prizes at no extra cost, the polls and other types of drawings are being phased out. Thanks for your question and best of luck!

Luck-E Zone- I have a question...When will you guys be posting some more surveys or the fun drawings just for Luck-E Zone members? Remember? Like the ones for $50-$200 giftcards, or tvs or whatever. Since I have joined Luck-E Zone, there have been zero. Even though there is still a link at the bottom for luck-e surveys. What's up with that? Thanks
