We’d like to start this week’s big winner wrap-up by thanking everyone here in the players’ club – those of you who’ve been here a long time and those who are new – for being Lucke-Zone members.
One of our members, Emily Stone, claimed the largest second-chance prize in state history: $3 million. The Denver, N.C. resident won in the Holiday Millions second-chance drawing held on April 3. “I’m just overjoyed,” she said when she found out she won. “This is an amazing prize.”
Two players claimed $1 million prizes this week. Paul Curry got his win playing a $4,000,000 Gold Bullion scratch-off ticket he purchased at the Jiffy Quik on Sloop Avenue in Kannapolis. Gregory Wernli matched all five white balls but not the red Powerball in the April 6 drawing. He purchased the winning ticket at the Wilco at 6995 Western Boulevard in Jacksonville.
A lucky Carolina Cash 5 ticket sold in Rutherford County led to a pair of friends winning the $100,456 jackpot in the April 8 drawing. Vickey Reynolds of Chesnee, S.C. and Ricky Jolly of Spartanburg, S.C. bought the winning ticket at the Chase Community Store on Chase High Road in Forest City.
The first $100,000 prize in the lottery’s $5 MONOPOLY game belongs to Scott Sage and Jay Venaas of Charlotte. “We like to buy tickets together, but we’ve never won anything like this,” Venaas said. Remember: Non-winning tickets for all four MONOPOLY games, priced at $1, $2, $5 and $10, are eligible for monthly second-chance drawings featuring cash prizes up to $10,000. When you enter a non-winning ticket for each of the four new games, you get a "super entry" for a $1 million drawing!
There were many other big winners across the state this week. Starting in the west, Linda Sanders of Asheville won the $50,000 jackpot in the Feb. 10 Carolina Cash 5 drawing. She purchased her winning ticket at the SAI Mart on South Main Street in Rutherfordton. Christopher Herron of Boomer won $10,000 on the Powerball ticket he purchased at Tobacco to Go on Hickory Boulevard in Lenoir. A pair of MONOPOLY players from Charlotte – Bobby Patterson and Terry Rorie – won $20,000 and $10,000 respectively. Mark Washam of Mooresville won $10,000 playing the $5,000 a Week for Life! instant game. We’re looking forward to finding out who bought a Powerball ticket worth $10,000 at the Wilco on Albemarle Road in Mint Hill.
In the central section of the state, Glenwood Malone of Fayetteville hit the April 5 Carolina Cash 5 jackpot to win $50,000. Raleigh resident Bonita Williams won $10,000 in the March 30 Powerball drawing. Two players, Bobby Holder of Olivia and Roberto Ramirez of Wendell, won $10,000 apiece playing the $200,000 a Year for Life scratch-off game.
In Eastern North Carolina, the $67,931-winning Cash 5 ticket for the April 10 drawing was sold at the Kerr Drug on North Howe Street in Southport. Kathleen Mazura of Ocean Isle Beach and Alisha Rushing of Goldsboro won $10,000 apiece in recent Mega Millions drawings. Another Goldsboro resident, Carla Faison, won $10,000 playing MONOPOLY. Powerball Player Edward Brown of Plymouth won $10,000 in the April 3 Powerball drawing. Last but not least in the east, Laurence Howard of Leland scratched off a $40,000 prize playing Big Money.
That about wraps up the wrap up. Have a great weekend, best of luck, and see you next time here in the Lucke-Zone.

I have won big and small in Goldsboro and we are small compare to other cities. I am a consistant player and hope for Mega and Power Ball to allow us to win huge, however being small won't stop me from playing. The millions may make it to my door or account- you do it for the funny and hope- it takes one ticket and one row of numbers- not what part of city, what county you in, or who you are- It's the number.
