Pick 4 players collect their winnings

A line of lucky Pick 4 winners started forming early Monday morning in front of the NCEL headquarters in Raleigh. The combination 2-2-2-2 was drawn in Saturday evening’s drawing, paying out nearly $7.5 million to Pick 4 players across the state.

A total of 933 $1 tickets matched the winning combination in the drawing, and each are worth $5,000. A $2,500 prize can be claimed by players who hold one of the 1,118 winning 50 cent tickets.

Ernest McNeill (left photo), a resident of St. Pauls, held three winning $1 tickets. As he stood in line, he filled out a claim form to collect his $15,000 prize.

“I’ve got some home repairs to make,” McNeill said. “I’m going to renovate the kitchen with this money. This is nice.”

Angela Moore (right photo), a resident of Chapel Hill and a student at Saint Augustine’s University, matched all four numbers on her 50 cent ticket and won $2,500.

“I’m not sure what I’ll do with the money yet,” Moore said. “But I know I will probably go shopping.”

Players who win $600 or more must claim prizes at one of the lottery's regional claim centers in Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, Raleigh, or Wilmington. Prizes can be claimed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Players must bring a photo ID and proof of their Social Security number to claim. There is more information about how to claim on our website.

We remind winners that they have 180 days to claim prizes. If you do come to a regional claim center on Monday or Tuesday of this week, it may take more time than usual to process the claim due to the large number of winners.

On the new lottery play slips where it says "Play Type" it would be so much easier if we could check more than one block. A person may want to play one Pick 4 number all available six ways (or any combination of the six options). Currently, you would need to fill out two different play slips to do this instead of just the one play-slot. This would save you money on printing costs of play slips AND increase the possible amount of dollars players pay (per play-slot) from $.50-1.00 to $3.00-5.00 excluding the combo play, or as much as $14.75-29.00 if you include the combo play. One play slip has the potential to generate as much as $145 dollars ($29x5play-slots=$145) for the lottery. p.s. I hope I was clear enough and didn't confuse you too much, lol!

@ SANDON - For Lucke-Rewards drawings (weekly & monthly), game-specific second-chance drawings (like Star Trek), and promotional drawings (such as the Hot Summer 2nd Chance promotion)... winners are notified first at the e-mail address associated with their Lucke-Zone account - usually within 48 business hours of a drawing. If a winner doesn't respond to the e-mail, we attempt to reach them by telephone and, if that doesnt work, certified mail. Good luck to you!

Now you got me wondering--on the non-winning tickets we players submitt,with all the players playing. How can Mr H.johnson win twice on different times,different games.Im believing you opps,and someone got caught.Please be fair.Im sure you will have an answer and not post.And as you have in the past,told other players to maybe take a break from playing for awhile,because lottery should be for fun,which it should be,but again you should give all players the same chances of winning as the next person-NO MORE SCAMS-yes I will take a break from playing,YOU have taken the fun out of playing the lottery. @ KADA - If you're talking about Lucke-Rewards drawings... the winners are first notified by e-mail. (If e-mail notification doesn't work, we try by phone and certified mail). You don't need to write down a number or keep your tickets once you've entered them for Lucke-Rewards points. Good luck to you!

@ BRONXHIGH - If only numbers were used, the entry codes would have to be much longer. Having the 26 letters available makes it possible to have many more combinations in a shorter code. Good luck with your 'typing practice' !

@ PLAYER (CJ) - Winners' names are announced only after they respond to the lottery's notificaiton attempts, AND the winners complete the claim process. Prizes of $600+ must be claimed at a regional claim center. So, all together, it can take many days and sometimes longer for a winner's name to be announced.

@ PATRICIA - The lottery doesn't require winners to be photographed. But North Carolina state law makes four pieces of information about every lottery win public information: Winner's name, hometown, game played, and amount won.

Firstly Congratz to all the winners!!! This makes me happy because I see winning is possible. Secondly I noticed I missed my # in win4 and the pick3 this month :( well that is how it goes sometimes though... Timing is essential. I just think its really crazy that I literally went on a crazy spending spree with my last little bit of extra money for Weeks on end to collect and submit the tickets for the second chance drawings and have anywhere from 80 entry's, to 64 entry's, to 80 again, and down to 30 entrys even and on and on for single Wednesday drawings and others, and haven't hit a single freaking one. I mean there wasn't a Wednesday entry on the list for weeks and weeks that I didn't have a substantial amount of entry's on. Just very discouraging and depressing. Lol.

Yeah it seems that lately I have become obsessed with winning (not on a crazt level) so that I can pay off my debt,have a more comfortable future and help out some of my family. Everytime I stop to get gas I buy a dollar or two worth of tickets. Ha. And I just stared logging in my non winner tickets in the second chance drawings. Something has got to give. The stars have got to line up for me one day !. LOL. * Dont need to be crazy rich, just more comfortable. Everything is just sooo expensive to live now days. So, to repeat, everyone's entries are created equal, its just not a surprise that North Carolina residents claim more lottery prizes than residents of other states.

@ GORAMS15 - If playing the lottery isn't fun, then maybe taking a break from games of chance would be a good option for you. Your chances of winning don't get better or worse over time. If you look at the odds for games of chance, it's always much more likely that you won't win a prize than that you will - that's what makes it possible to have the chance to win $100, $1,000, $10,000, $100,000, $1 million or $100 million depending what game you're playing.

I was one of the lucky winners! Hit for $2500. The wait was not that bad. I was the first in line at the Greensboro office by 9:00 a.m. and out by 09:45 a.m. The lottery office had a great system that kept the line moving and all the workers were in a good mood don't now about later on that day but the first hour was okay for me and a few others. @ PLAYER (1H) - As far as the lottery is concerned, once a ticket has been entered for Lucke-Rewards points, you don't need to keep it in order to claim a prize won in a Lucke-Rewards drawing. Just make sure that for any winning draw game tickets, you claim your prizes! :-D
