60 chances to win $5,000 will heat up this summer

Soon it’ll be hot outside but we’ve got something cool for Lucke-Zone members this summer: On top of receiving Lucke-Rewards points, each eligible ticket you enter will automatically give you a shot to win $5,000 in a Hot Summer Second-Chance Drawing. In each of three drawings, 20 prizes of $5,000 will be awarded for a total of 60 winners.

Any ticket purchased and entered during an entry period gives you a chance to win. Here are the key dates you need to know:

Drawing 1: Entry from June 6 - June 30 (Drawing on July 3)
Drawing 2: Entry from July 1 - July 31 (Drawing on Aug. 7)
Drawing 3: Entry from Aug. 1 - Sept. 3 (Drawing on Sept. 11)

Just as with Lucke-Rewards points, non-winning instant tickets and all draw game tickets are eligible to win in a Hot Summer Second-Chance drawing. This includes non-winning tickets for MONOPOLY and Star Trek that have their own separate second-chance drawings.

The lottery will attempt to notify winners by e-mail within 48 hours of a drawing. Once a winner has responded to notification, the Winners page will be updated. A $5,000 winner will claim the prize at one of the lottery’s regional offices. A winner’s name will be announced only after he or she has been notified and the claim process is complete.

While $456.7 million is a large sum of money, is is equal to about 5% of what the state spends on education. Lottery funds for education will never cover every need, it will always be a comparatively small but important source of funding for education.

I don't understand if this is education lottery then why don't the state have money to pay its teachers and keep cutting them back. And all these thousands of dollars and hundreds of thousands of dollars that people supposly when every week and month where's the money coming from if BC is that broke. Ummm makes you wonder. Then you enter galore amount of tickets in 2 and chance and you still lose unless you know someone.

I know you answer the same questions over and over but i agree with above comment. It would be great to have a running live count on total number of entries for each drawing. The current entry number doesn't even say how many entries you have made on email confirmation. It seems all drawings are lumped together on entry number you get in the email. i know the number is shown on the winners page but a running total would be more transparent and maybe some questions would be answered as to why after entering 100 times you did not win because 100,000 people have also entered.

@ JMARC - To answer your first question, the random number generator is started by the lottery staff but it does not require a person to "stop" it in order for the random results to be generated. To answer your second question, its really up to each Lucke-Zone member whether it'd be more fun to have lots of entries in one drawing or fewer entries in lots of drawings... either way, it'll take luck to win - so, good luck to you!

@ PLAYER (R01) - Lucke-Rewards and second-chance drawings are different from draw games that use ball machines and instant games that you scratch. They're conducted using a random number generator, under the supervision of an auditor, according to specific security procedures. Without boring you with a tedious list of details, it wouldn't be interesting to watch. Televised drawings are expensive and time-consuming to produce, and require TV stations to broadcast them to the general public. Lucke-Rewards drawings are exclusive to Lucke-Zone members at no additional cost to players; doing them in this way makes it possible for the lottery to award cash and other prizes to the winners.

I find it odd that in a game of chance, everyone whines if they miss it- odds are you are NOT going to win- due to quantities of tickets sold PLUS the matrix of choices in the numbers. BUT you can't win- if you don't enter! I don't stress it- I buy ONE ticket per drawing for Mega and ONE ticket per drawing for Powerball...odds are as good for 1 as for 100. I love the idea of a 2nd chance...odds are BETTER here because many WON'T take the time to enter- so out of 1 in 1,000,000,000 for the big drawings, here it's only 1 in 1,000,000- and as always- if you don't enter, you can't win. Easy to comprehend.

How come you can see the drawing of lottery on tv.if you by a scratch ticket you can see when you scratch what you win or lose. BUT why can't they come up with something so we can see when they draw for second chance drawings. I think it would be more ligit and make a lot of people happy.

@ TURBO - That's exactly right. There's no advantage to saving up tickets purchased now to enter later, since the ticket must be purchased AND entered during the Hot Summer promotion period in order to get entries into one of those drawings. Good luck to you!!

@ CASSANDRA - Any time you have even one entry in a Lucke-Rewards drawing, you have a chance to win. At the same time there are many other Lucke-Zone members entering for a chance to win. There are often more than 100,000 total entries in a given Lucke-Rewards drawing. Just as with scratch-off games and other lottery drawings, it takes a lot of luck to win a Lucke-Rewards prize. Similar to the notification/claim process for Lucke-Rewards drawings... winners in the MONOPOLY drawings will only be announced after they respond to the lottery's notification AND complete the claim process. As you may have noticed, this can take several days. The winner page will be updated as soon as that info is available! :-D

Basically, every non-winning instant ticket and every draw game ticket you enter here in the Lucke-Zone gives you a chance to win in a Hot Summer Second-Chance drawing!
