Of all the prizes that added up to $22.2 million this week, Rodger Keith Melton won the biggest one. The retired security guard, from the small town of Spindale in Rutherford County, won the top prize playing the $2,500 a Week for Life! game. Top prizes in the $5 game are guaranteed to be worth at least $2.6 million – and possibly much more.
A pair of Carolina Cash 5 players split the 4th-largest jackpot in the history of the game to win $477,275 each. The winners are Karen Horton, a retired corrections officer from Salisbury and Becky Richardson, a 20-year-old resident of Hollister in Halifax County.
Another Carolina Cash 5 jackpot winner is Bladen County resident Clyde Pait of Bladenboro. He won $73,062 in the June 26 drawing. He purchased his winning ticket at the Happy Mart on West Broad Street in Elizabethtown.
Three Powerball players claimed prizes this week that they won in recent drawings. Arthur Girardin of Greensboro won $10,000 in the June 15 drawing. Pheng Lee of Statesville won $40,000 in the June 19 drawing. And Clyde Denegar of Davidson won $10,000 in the June 26 drawing.
A store in Statesville in Iredell County sold a Power 7's ticket worth $200,000. Jose Rojas-Noyola of Greenville, S.C. won the final prize in the game, which started Jan. 13 with six $200,000 prizes.
Barbara Harrell of Charlotte won $50,000 instantly on a Junior Big Ol' Bucks ticket. Seven more players claimed $10,000 scratch-off wins this week:
