Three lucky players cashed in six-figure prizes on scratch-off games this week, pushing the instant prize total to more than $13.9 million.
Cabarrus County resident Margaret Cleveland of Concord is the first player to win a $100,000 top prize playing the Black Onyx 7’s game. She said the lucky ticket sat in a drawer untouched for over two weeks before she decided to take it out and scratch it. Four more top prizes are still unclaimed in the game, which started on June 18.
Another $100,000 win this week belongs to Buncombe County resident Robert Rose Sr. of Candler. He won on a Diamond 7’s ticket. With his win, three more top prizes of $100,000 remain in that game.
But by far the biggest scratch-off prize collected this week is the $750,000 Jumbo Bucks prize won by Rowan County resident Bruce Kluttz of Cleveland, NC. He purchased his lucky ticket at the County Line Grocery on Campground Road in Statesville.
Several Carolina Cash 5 players won or claimed big prizes this week. The winner of Thursday’s $260,423 jackpot, who has yet to come forward, purchased the winning ticket at the Fill Good on U.S. 74 West in Monroe in Union County. The $65,440 Cash 5 jackpot won in the July 5 drawing also has yet to be claimed. That winning ticket was sold at the Market Express on Weddington-Monroe Road in Matthews.
Yolanda Brown of Greensboro collected her $25,000 share of the jackpot she won in the March 15 drawing. Ricky Cannon of Concord won the $74,975 jackpot in the July 3 drawing.
A trio of $10,000 prizes were won in recent Powerball and Mega Millions drawings. Abraham Scott of Southport won in the July 5 Mega Millions drawing and Terry Jacob of Sophia won in the July 6 Powerball drawing. Another $10,000-winning Powerball ticket for that drawing, sold at the Kangaroo Express on Ashdale Court in Kannapolis, has yet to be claimed.
Including Pick 3 and Pick 4 prizes, draw game players won more than $3.5 million this week.
Ten more players claimed big scratch-off prizes, including two $50,000 wins. Faith Jefferies of Burlington won playing Bingo Mania and Raymond Patterson of Randleman won playing Cash Spectacular. It was a $4,000,000 Gold Bullion ticket that made Edwards Jenkins of Goldsboro a $20,000 instant winner.

How is it that the same person wins two different drawings on 7/3? How do these drawings work? That seems like more than just chance? New at this but wondering if it is even worth the effort.
