Wake County store sells $224,632-winning jackpot ticket

July fireworks are already here for whoever bought the lucky ticket for Monday’s Carolina Cash 5 drawing at a store in Garner. The ticket, sold at the Grocery Boy Jr. on West Garner Road in Garner, matched all five winning numbers drawn to win the $224,632 jackpot.

“This is great,” said Tom Zadon, the store manager. “I think that's the biggest we’ve ever had.”

The winning numbers for the drawing were: 14-17-24-32-39. Whoever has the winning ticket has 180 days to claim the prize at lottery headquarters.

“Congratulations to the winner,” Zadon added. “Hopefully we'll have a whole bunch more.”

On the Wednesday 2500.00 drawing it would be nice if the winning number was posted so we could atleast see how near or far we were from the winning number. I know a non win is a non win but it would be nice to know I was 4 numbers away or 400 away. Thanks

@ NEWBREED - Check the e-mail address you have set with your Lucke-Zone account. If the lottery doesn't hear back from winners within two business days, telephone contact is attempted. If a winner can't be reached that way, certified mail is sent. Winners have 30 days from the day the first e-mail is sent to respond & claim the prize.

@ EDWARDS - Yes, the first 'Hot Summer' 2nd Chance drawing was scheduled for Wednesday and winners were sent notification e-mails on Friday (the day after the July 4 holiday)
