Catawba County Powerball ticket wins $1 million

A lucky lottery ticket sold in Catawba County won $1 million in Saturday’s Powerball drawing. The ticket, which beat odds of 1 in 5.1 million to match all five white balls drawn, was sold at Kangaroo Express #3026 on N.C. 10 West in Newton. The numbers for the white balls were 12-17-45-54-58.

As the identity of the $1 million Powerball winner remains a mystery, interest in the lottery’s other multistate jackpot game – Mega Millions – is growing. The annuity value for Tuesday’s jackpot is estimated at $160 million, or a one-time lump sum payment of $109.4 million. The drawing will be held at approximately 10:59 p.m. Since the game came to the Tar Heel State in 2010, North Carolina players have twice beat the odds of 1 in 175 million to win the jackpot.

@ WECOBU - If you're talking about Lucke-Rewards drawings, the first way notification is made is at the e-mail address associated with a Lucke-Zone member's account. If we don't hear back, we try by telephone and then certified mail if neccessary. We can't announce a winner's name until he or she responds to notification AND completes the claim process.

I noticed it is taking some of the winners a long time to claim there winning. I check my tablet everyday. If I win you will hear from me that same day. Do you have to contact all the winners before you go to another game.Winners please claim your winning so the people who have not won anything will have a chance to win.

An elderly friend of my said he saw a group of young adults jumping up and down over the weekend shouting they had just won $1 million. They were at a retailer close to the 16/150 crossing in Denver NC . That is the Catawba Lincoln county line. Time will tell.
