Someone who played Mega Millions in Greensboro won $1 million on Tuesday night. A lucky ticket, which beat odds of 1 in 18.4 million, was sold at the Spartan BP on South Aycock Street in Greensboro.
This is the first $1 million win in North Carolina since the new Mega Millions game launched in October. Changes to the game included a new number matrix, bigger starting jackpots and bigger prizes for matching all five white balls. In November, Everette Sloop from Rowan County became the first player in the country to win $3 million playing the new game.
The ticket matched all five numbers for the white balls drawn, which were 4-23-26-62-69. Whoever purchased the ticket has 180 days from the date of the drawing to collect the prize money at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.
Friday night's Mega Millions players have a chance to win an estimated jackpot annuity of $41 million or a one-time lump sum payment of $22.1 million.
