Weekend drawings bring big prizes across the state

All three jackpot game drawings resulted in big wins this past weekend.

Two tickets in Friday's Mega Millions drawing won $5,000 prizes. The tickets were sold at the Fairfield Fuel Market on Broad Creek Road in New Bern and at the Cubbard Express on NE 2nd Street in Hickory.

On Saturday, a Powerball ticket sold at the TAS Drug on West Church Street in Cherryville matched all five numbers and is worth $1 million.

In the same drawing, two tickets matched four white balls and the Powerball. The first one, a Power Play ticket worth $30,000, was sold at the Food Lion on South Coliseum Street in Greensboro. The second ticket, worth $10,000, was purchased at the 7-Eleven on Reames Road in Charlotte.

Finally, Sunday's $640,913 Carolina Cash 5 jackpot was won on a ticket purchased at the New York Mini Mart on Nixon Street in Wilmington.

Lottery offices across the state will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11 in observation of Veterans Day. We'd like to wish all the Lucke-Zone veterans and their families a safe and happy holiday and, as always, we thank you for your service.

Deliver, quit whining. In county gaston county, big winners come from MOUNT HOLLY, BELMONT AND CHERRYVILLE. I always buy tickets from those places because of the demographics. Recently, cherryville had a million dollar winner. Of course, lottery officials know where the big winners are, if they did not know, all the winners would come from the big cities. Lots of small areas win big also..but..be sure to check the demographics. hope this helps.NC Lottery
Just for context: About 25% of North Carolinians live in Guilford, Mecklenburg and Wake Counties - home to the state's three largest cities. But that means that 75% of North Carolinians live in counties that don't have one of the biggest cities in the state. We have winners from all kinds of places, big and small :)

Answer me why the M0N0P0LY MILLIONAIRES draw numbers are from a random generaded program and the property number is picked by the lottery people and not the player? Kinda seems like the game is rigged because everyone knows that a random generated program is BS why not use the balls like the other games? if it is not true that you want to control the outcome let the player pick his own property number. I have tried to enter the new Monopoly Millionaires Club tickets in the Lucke-Zone Rewards, but they all come back saying they are not recognised??? This happened with all4 tickets I purchased.NC Lottery
Are you entering the right number at the bottom of your ticket? If you are still having problems, please click the HELP link at the top of the Lucke-Zone and fill out an online support form.

Yea it's me again, Looking at my Cash5 ticket from last night's drawing [11-13-14] It always seems that my numbers are always 1 or 2 and sometimes 3 or 4 away from the winning numbers! Like last night's drawing, my QP numbers was 5-8-14-16-31.. now let's look at the Cash5 drawing numbers that came up last night. 5-9-12-15-25.. you see how close they are to my QP numbers on my ticket! 5 was dead on it, 9 was one away from my number 8, 12 was 2 numbers away from my number 14 and 15 was one number away from my number 16 then 25 was 6 numbers away from my number 31. This is not the first time this has happen to me, sometimes they are only 1 or 2 numbers away down the line of numbers! Just don't get it, so close!!! Must keep on trying and crying!! But one day soon I will be crying Happy tears, cause LADY LUCK WILL KISS ME SOON!Good Luck to all of you!!

I bought a hole pack of$10.00 tickets it cost me $300.00 dollars and won $120.00 dollars (TELL ME THAT'S GREAT ODDS), I GUESS IT'S BECAUSE I LIVE IN GASTON COUNTY WERE THE ODDS STINK WHEN IT COMES TO BIG WINNERS IN THE SCRATCH OFF TICKETS.I think we have only 2 or 3 big winners compare toTHE NORTHERN PART OF THE STATE(GO AHEAD TILL ME IT'S THE LUCK OF THE DRAW)I'VE made a comment in the past and stated that I'm from New Jersey and one of my friends worked for the lottery and he told me that the people running the lottery know were the big winning ticket are put, in what part of the state.

That is a popular question! The Millionaire Club drawing was held the same night as the weekly drawing, and the winners are posted on the national website http://www.playmmc.com ... we're hoping next time we have our second $1 million winner in North Carolina! :)

I can relate I have been playing since the lottery started here no big win. I buy 200 in tickets 20$ ones every two weeks or more and the most that i have won is 100$. They do suck and the second chance drawing hardly no one wins from wilmington

We are hearing that you're frustrated. Playing games of chance mean the odds are always more likely that you will buy a non-winning ticket than a winning ticket.. in North Carolina or anywhere else. But it is the odds of winning that give you and any other player the chance to turn $5 into a much bigger prize. We publish the odds and encourage people to play responsibly. If you aren't enjoying yourself, we would hope you will take a break and do what is best for you.

No winners again. Luck is not enough if there are no winners printed. Last year it wasnt unusual to win $50 or $100, but this year has been the worst since the lottery started. To make scratch off seem fair I think if you have 50 stores(or ever how many there are)Each store should only get one roll per new game.When they sell all of the tickets on the roll they get no more until new games come out.Some of the areas that never have winning tickets will have a fighting chance.If you want to sell more tickets I still think the stores need to get the amount of tickets they want for that game at one time instead of replacement rolls throughout the game.If it is done this way and all the winning tickets are still being sold in the same locations all will know it is a little shady.NC Lottery
There are more than 6,800 locations across the state that sell lottery tickets. Everyone who buys a ticket has the same chance of winning as anyone else. Good luck!

@ LTANKARD - Winning tickets are distributed at random throughout the entire printing run of the game. It's not easier to win a prize playing in a high volume store than a rural store. If you go to a high volume store, you're just playing against more people. That's why nobody has an advantage of winning. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever win big again, I say again because when I was younger and not that well educated in how to play the lottery I later came to realize that I had won the top prize for the original game of Ruby Red sevens! I had a few black sevens which gave me one hundred dollars and was soooo excited, but when I got home and looked the ticket up online I realized that I won from matching the the same numbers to mine and the red sevens were double! I should've known better cause the cashier looked kind of in a amazement gaze and didn't even scan my ticket just asked me how much did I say I won again. I'm sure my time hopefully will come again and this time I'm ready I know how to play the games now! LOL, oh always remember to SIGN YOUR TICKETS!

when will some one in Winston salem win big. I feel that the winning tickets are not in nc at all and we seem to be buying most of the tickets I know it helps us but come on it don't seem fair that someone from another state wins the nc lottery and no one from nc that seem oddNC Lottery

On your second question, please remember that games like Powerball, Mega Millions and Monopoly Millionaires Club are multi-state games... which is what makes it possible for there to be such big total number of prizes. Who would not like to wake up and check your tickets and see that you have won the Cash 5 Jackpot of $640,913. Would be a big relief off my shoulders! No more bills to pay! how are scratch-off tickets distributed to vendors? random,regional,first come? how are winning rolls divided so small rural vendors have a equal chance of winning? it seems to me that if I buy my tickets where the most are sold I have a better chance of winning. point- a non-winning roll could sit there for one month in a rural store but would only sit for one day in high volume store. does not seem fair to me. maybe a raffle system would be fairer for all. enlighten me please. there is a lot of negative feelings about lack of fairness re lottery in the stores I visit- small rural stores and small town stores.it could be the downfall of the lottery in n.c. if a fairer system is not implemented.NC Lottery

Tax Tip: Save your losing tickets. I keep mine in a shoe box. If you win a prize, you can offset your winnings by the losses on your taxes. The IRS won't let you write off more losses than winnings but you can end up paying zero tax on a prize if you save those losing tickets as proof for an audit. On January 1, I empty the shoebox into the trash and start the collection of losing tickets for the next tax year. If you don't believe me, ask your tax professional.

I've lost more than I've won. That's the nature of the beast. You gotta be LUCKY. But I don't grouse about losing. Nobody is forcing me to play and I don't play more than I can afford to lose. I'm still hoping to be LUCKY one day.

The new tickets suck as bad as the old ones. Its not luck because everybody I know is losing. Ive heard alot of stories about people buying up to $200 in tickets from the same stack and not winning anything. I bought 20 of the new $5 tickets over the weekend and won $5 on one and $10 on another. Thats 1 in 10 that's winning, if you want to call it that. The new $2 tickets are only winning $2. Sad excuse for a lottery. Stop your promotions, we're onto you!
