What’s better than awarding a million bucks? Awarding it three times in one week!
The first went to William McCrea, a textile worker from Sampson County, who won $1 million in the lottery’s exclusive, one time MONOPOLY MILLIONARES’ CLUB™ drawing on Oct. 24. McCrea kept the lucky ticket on his dresser at home and then in his truck before discovering it 12 days later.
Next up, two brothers-in-law from Union County claimed a $1 million prize together - making good on a long-standing pledge between them to share a big lottery win. Van Hill of Indian Trail and Wayne Clifton of Monroe are the first to claim $1 million in the new Millionaire Jingle Bucks game.
The third $1 million win went to another duo sharing a big win. Evans Anthony of Shelby and William Anthony of Cherryville matched all five white balls in the Nov. 8 Powerball drawing. They bought the lucky ticket at the TAS Drug on West Church Street in Cherryville.
Also this week, Carolina Cash 5 paid off in a big way for a Wilmington couple - who almost missed out on collecting their jackpot. Joseph Cobbs III, a furniture deliveryman, and his fiancé Kendra Batts, a certified nursing assistant, matched all five numbers in the Nov. 9 Carolina Cash 5 drawing to win the $640,913 jackpot - but had to rescue their lucky ticket from the garbage after hearing that the winning ticket was sold at the store where they bought theirs.
Nine more prizes of $10,000 to $50,000 were claimed this week. The winners are:
- Iola Mikrut of Beaufort: $10,000 (The "$" game)
- Ram Baskota of Charlotte: $25,000 (Jolly Jingle Bucks)
- Luis Sanchez of Charlotte: $10,000 ($200 Million Blowout)
- Gail Bain of Fort Mill, SC: $50,000 (Twisted Bingo)
- David Hess of Huntersville: $10,000 ($200 Million Blowout)
- Matthew Kivett of Robbins: $10,000 ($120 Million Cash)
- Elion Evans of Sanford: $10,000 ($10,000 Jackpot)
- Michael Johnson of Stedman: $20,000 ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)
- William Carter of Turkey: $10,000 ($200 Million Blowout)
That does it for this week's highlights. Until next time, stay safe and warm and see you soon here in the Lucke-Zone.
