Four scratch-off wins and two Cash 5 jackpots

This week’s biggest wins came from four instant scratch-off tickets and two Carolina Cash 5 jackpots. In all, from Dec. 12 – 18, players of instant scratch-off games won $22.3 million and draw game players added $5.6 million more for a total of more than $27.9 million statewide.

The largest win of the week went to Henry Smith of Rutherfordton, who scratched off the $4 million prize in the $200 Million Blowout game. He said that his prize money will make it possible for him to pay off all of his bills including his mortgage, make home improvements and take a vacation.

Linda Hammock, an addiction counselor from Chapel Hill, is the latest player to win $1 million playing the $120 Million Cash game.

Johnny Daughtry’s win in the $500 a Week for Life! game makes him the biggest winner in Hertford County history. He said he plans to use his winnings to buy a new home and purchase a Dodge Charger for his fiancé.

Down in Beaufort County,Jennifer Quidley, a janitor at a local Montessori school in Belhaven, plans to use the $200,000 prize she won playing the Break The Bank game to help her grandparents and have a merrier Christmas.

A pair of Carolina Cash 5 players cashed in six-figure prizes. Victor Blackwell of Matthews said his church and his retirement fund will be the beneficiaries of the $173,465 jackpot he won last Friday night.  Dewey Croom, a truck driver from Marion, said his good luck in winning Tuesday’s $121,790 jackpot means when he retires next year he will no longer have a mortgage.

Ten more players won prizes from $10,000 to 50,000 this week. In alphabetical order by the winner’s hometown, they are:

• Kill Devil Hills resident Phillip Brown won $10,000 playing $120 Million Cash
  
• Moyock resident Jessica Houston won $10,000 playing $4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular
  
• Rockwell resident Tyler Canaday won $10,000 playing $
  
• Statesville resident James Foard won $50,000 playing $200 Million Blowout
  
• Trinity resident Jonathan Campbell won $10,000 playing $200 Million Blowout
  
• Winston-Salem resident George Smith won $10,000 playing $200 Million Blowout
