All or Nothing promotion starts today

Beginning today, we have a special promotion for those who are playing our new All or Nothing game or for anyone who would like to try.

All or Nothing is a new game. It is only three month old as of Sunday. There are two ways to win the $250,000 top prize: Match all the numbers drawn, or none of them. Either way wins.

Tickets are $2 each. But with our All or Nothing promotion, folks who make a $4 purchase on a single All or Nothing ticket will get a Quick Pick All or Nothing ticket for free. The promotion will last until Jan. 31, 2015.

Two types of purchases can qualify you for a free ticket.

You can buy a ticket with an entry into more than one drawing on a single ticket, say the day drawing and the night drawing, for $4. Or you can buy two chances or more in the next drawing, for at least $4.

When you make either purchase at a lottery retail location, you will get a free $2 Quick Pick All or Nothing ticket for the next drawing. Please make sure before you leave the retail location, that you have your free ticket and that you can read everything on it.

The All or Nothing game started on Sept. 7 and was the first new draw game in North Carolina since Mega Millions came here in January 2010. Our All or Nothing game is played only in North Carolina.

Drawings are held twice a day, at approximately 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., to randomly select 12 numbers from 1 to 24. You can let the computer Quick Pick, or choose 12 numbers yourself.

There are 10 ways to win:

Match four or eight numbers for $2 (1 in 5.5 odds)
Match three or nine numbers for $10 (1 in 28 odds)
Match two or 10 numbers for $50 (1 in 310.5 odds)
Match one or 11 numbers for $500 (1 in 9,390 odds)
Match zero or 12 numbers for $250,000 (1 in 1.35 million odds)

It will be easy to find out if you are a winner by checking your numbers or watching the results of a drawing on our website. All prizes must be claimed within 180 days.

So far, we’ve had one winner of the top prize of $250,000, Allen Boone of Hubert in Onslow County. For more information about the new game, check out our All or Nothing game page.

The top prize in Minnesota is $100,000 and it is $250,000 here. Often, games are designed slightly differently in different states. The price of the ticket, odds of winning, and prizes at different levels all work together to determine how the game works.

Fortunately I was the one $500 dollar winner on yesterday (1/5) all or nothing. It felt good to kick off the year with a bigger win. Had every single number exactly except the last one which was 22 and I had 24. I almost hollered at my job when I checked. I bought the $4 dollar tickets and received a free ticket. The free ticket had 4 winning numbers on it but when I tried to claim the prize I was told the ticket was no good - what gives? Ok, I'm with Crystal and a lot of people about the drawings, my boyfriend and I play second chance all the time, I buy tickets and scratch offs and still not winning yet I saw a person's name win for 2 different drawings. Is it random or do u have to know someone? Can yall please make it easier for more people to win and more often not just on Wednesdays, how about everyday...

I recently read an article that gave the details of how much Robeson county residents spends in buying lottery tickets. Considering Robeson County is ranked one of the poorest counties, the numbers in buying tickets was extremely high. However, then does not appear to be many winners from this county. I don't play the game much. I probably spent about $30 on tix since it started. I won $2 once or twice and $50 once. I haven't played a $4 ticket yet because when the free one comes out, it will probably be for a day draw and I'll feel that I'll need to play that same number again for the night draw since I would hate to have the free number a night winner and not having played it!

As you can see from the comment above, some folks like All or Nothing! But we know it's not everyone's favorite game. Right now there are no plans to do a six-number state lottery game, but you never know down the line!

This is to all the ones that are complaining about the all or nothing game. you say you played the game several times and don't win well, if you played that eight time you might of won something. Me personally, I love the game. Yes, I don't win all the time and I haven't won that $500.00 or the jackpot. But I play the day and the evening draw everyday since the game started and I win more times then I lose. One day I won $104.00 for the day draw and then I won $20.00 that evening. All I can say is If you stick with the game you might find out that you'll like it and you might start winning?

I have a problem with this why do I have to spend four dollars to get free ticket why can't the machine recognize I am spending 8 dollars so I can get two free tickets and my second problem with this is if your going to give us a free ticket why not give us the option of a quick pic or us picking our own number (shouldn't this be a software issue update your system) if the ticket is free give us the the option. It is the way our system works. It's the $4 transaction that triggers the free ticket and there is no window in that moment to allow players to pick their own numbers. If you want two free tickets you would need to make two $4 purchases on two single tickets. Maybe it's not for everyone, but we wanted to continue to let folks know about this new game and believed a promotion would help. Would be cool if someone won the top prize with a free ticket, even if it was a Quick Pick.

In the NC lottery's defense we are not the only state with All or Nothing. I saw it in Georgia on the way back from Disney World last month. Maybe somebody will get lucky but with 1 in 3.5 million odds it going to be hard if your only selling 50,000 tickets a day. I would like to know the take on some of these games. I know for a fact I have better odds in any casino in this country.NC Lottery
The combined odds of winning the Top Prize of $250,000 (Matching 12 and matching 0) are 1 in 1.35 million. You're right that the more tickets that are sold, the more likely it will be that the jackpot is won. The big difference between a state lottery that has a beneficiary cause and a casino is that our profits benefit the state.

@ CRYSTAL - All or Nothing was the first new draw game we brought on board since Mega Millions in 2010; but since Mega Millions is so similar to Powerball and was played in other states, folks already knew how it worked. With All or Nothing, we are really trying to get the word out to folks that this is a new and different game. Beyond the lottery industry, promotions are often used to get the word out about new products :)

Is there an expiration date on All or Nothing tickets? I have had some that were worth $2 and when I go to redeem (maybe a week or 2 later) the machine says "Ticket Too Old". When I give to the store clerk, they say the same. Please advise.NC Lottery
Does the entire message on the ticket read "Ticket Too Old or Not a Winner" ? It just means that either the ticket is too old, or that the ticket did not win a prize. Winning tickets are valid for claim for 180 days from the date of the drawing.

Please response to my inquiry how the NCEL declare the winners and how do they raffle the winning numbers of the player who entered the drawing? How do you know which player entered the drawing and how to do the NCEL pick the winners. Does the NCEL put all the name of players in a big basket like the ones shown on TV when they draw the numbers? Pls. explain. A random number generator is used, and all of your entries have a chance to win. A specific player isn't selected by choice, the winners are drawn at random. A player with even one entry in a drawing has a chance to win. You are welcome to come to a drawing sometime to see how the secure process works.

I played the all or nothing several times and won nothing.This isn't a game I will play.Also few winner come from NC on the other state games.I only play one ticket on them too.I have been playing second chance since it started and have won nothing.I put in 75 tickets on most day.I plan to guit ther 1st of the yr if I don't win.

Yes, I have a problem. You advertise that If I spend $4.00 worth on a all/nothing ticket I get a free ticket. Well, how come when I give my play slip for the print out ticket I have filled out play area, A through D which is a total of $8.00. I also have checked the multidraw box so that way I get a day and evening draw by making one trip to the store. That is a total of $16.00 so why do I only get one free ticket which is only a day time draw instead of four(two for day and two for evening)? Now I have to make two trips( before 12:00 and then before 7:00) and fill out 4 play slips in order to get my free 4 tickets.NC Lottery
You will see in this blog that we are very careful to say that you will get a free ticket for each purchase of $4 or more. You are correct that you need to divide up an $8 or $16 purchase into multiple purchases in order to get multiple free tickets.

No; you will probably want to break up your purchase into six separate $4 purchases. That is the only way the terminal knows to print up your free ticket. Even if a clerk isn't aware of the promotion, the terminal will print one free ticket for every single All or Nothing purchase of $4 or more.

The payouts for scratch-offs is unbelievable..I purchased 10...$2.00 (Jingle Bucks) and did not win even win $1.00. I am aware of the odds but the payouts have changed within the last 2-3 months. I used to purchase on an average of $25.00 to $30.00 per day but not anymore..I will continue to play but the chance of winning with scratch-offs is almost zero.NC Lottery

I think it's cool to have the AON promotion but it sounds to me like the sales are not what were expected. Buy 2 get one free on the lottery? This is a first. and as far as the second chance drawings, why can't they do something on a daily basis to produce more winners? Instead of having 3 winners of 800 bucks weekly why can't they give a daily prize away of like 300 bucks. Even a chance to win 100 bucks would on a daily basis would be nice. They listened when the players said they wanted a game to produce more millionaires and out came the Monopoly game. Just a thought. I would love to see a response to this suggestion. Who is with me on the board?

All of the lottery's profits benefit education. Our games pay out more in prizes today than they did when the lottery began in 2006... we love it when players win! But remember its the non-winning tickets that make it possible to turn $1, $5 or $10 into $100, $50,000 or $1 million! :)

There is no rule about how many different drawings a player can enter and have the chance to win. The only rule is that a player can win a maximum of one prize per drawing.

I made a purchase today at the store brought 4.00 ticket and ask the clerk about the free ticket they respond with our store is not doing that and I didnt receive a free ticket, I paid four dollars for my two tickets. I went to another store and ask the clerk about it and even showed her the promotion that was going on and she didnt know what I talking about so I didn't buy a ticket from that storeNC Lottery
We do our best to inform store owners and managers about all things lottery, and we encourage them to talk to their employees; can you call our customer service team at 877-962-7529 to tell them more about which stores this happened at? Promotion is for one single ticket with a $4 purchase. You mention two tickets. So that could have been the issue.

When you fill out an All or Nothing play slip, you can choose how many drawings you want to play those numbers in. So if you did a multi-draw for 2 drawings, you could play day and night - or night and day, depending on when you buy your ticket. An All or Nothing ticket is always good for the next upcoming drawing, there is no advance play with the game.

You get one promotional ticket for each purchase of $4 or more. So, in order to get more free tickets. It's similar to how the $5 purchase works with Cash 5 and the Bonus Bucks slip.
