Popular combinations of numbers can result in lots of winners across the state when they are drawn and that happened Tuesday afternoon in the Carolina Pick 4 drawing.
The “Ten-Ten” combination, 1-0-1-0, was drawn, paying out nearly $4 million to Pick 4 players across the state. It was the fourth largest prize amount paid to winners since the game launched in 2009.
The drawing produced 2,863 winning tickets. The game’s top prize of $5,000 will go to those players who hold one of the 262 $1 tickets with the numbers 1-0-1-0 in the “Exact” play style. A $2,500 prize will go to players who hold one of the 117 winning 50 cent tickets with the numbers 1-0-1-0 in the “Exact” play style. The odds of matching all four numbers in the exact order in a Pick 4 drawing are 1 in 10,000.
The numbers 1-0-1-0 are one of the most popular combinations of numbers played in the Pick 4 game. The record Pick 4 win occurred on Aug. 11, 2012 when the numbers 1-1-1-1 paid out $7.5 million in prizes.
Antonio Davis of Henderson won $2,900 on his 50/50 ticket. Davis said he usually plays scratch-off games, but played Pick 4 because he wanted to try something different.
"I'm glad I did," Davis said. "I'm going to save this money. This feels good."
Winners who won $600 or more must claim their prizes at any of the lottery’s six claims centers across the state. The offices open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. and are located in Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, Raleigh or Wilmington.
Players must bring a Photo ID and proof of their Social Security number to complete their claims. Prizes can also be claimed by mail. There is more information about how to claim on our website.
Winners who won $599 or less in the drawing can claim their prizes at any retail location where lottery tickets are sold.
We remind winners that they have 180 days to claim prizes. If you do come to a regional claim center on Wednesday, it may take more time than usual to process the claim due to the large number of winners.
