Two things make Cash 5 especially fun: Fast-growing jackpots and winning tickets always come from stores in North Carolina. This week, three North Carolinians who played our state’s jackpot game came in to collect their winnings.
Jesus Madera, a textile technician from Burlington, was getting ready for work when he checked the newspaper for the winning numbers in the Feb. 27 drawing and found out he won. “This is a good feeling,” Madera said as he claimed his $139,028 jackpot. “I’m going to pay some bills and I’m going to eat steak tonight.”
Another jackpot winner this week is Roxanne Coppedge of Louisburg. She won $140,191 in the March 4 drawing. “I called the lottery hotline late that night and checked the numbers,” she said. “I didn’t think it was true. I must have called fifty times to make sure. I even slept on the ticket all night to make sure I didn’t lose it.”
Michael McClain of Stanley won $50,000 in the Feb. 28 Carolina Cash 5 drawing. He bought his lucky ticket at the Wilco on N.C. 16 North in Denver, N.C.
Speaking of jackpots, heading into Friday’s Mega Millions drawing, the annuity stands at $270 million ($151 million cash). North Carolina has had two Mega Millions jackpot winners before – we hope to have our third this weekend!
Five North Carolina Powerball players who didn’t hit the jackpot did come in to claim big prizes they won in recent drawings. Wayne Jackson of Wilmington and Harvey Hall of Summerfield won $20,000 apiece in Wednesday’s drawing. John Dial of Kannapolis won $10,000 in the drawing. Daniel Walsh of Winston-Salem won $10,000 in the Feb. 26 drawing and Raleigh resident Kevin Pack won $10,000 in the Feb. 19 drawing.
Ten, count ‘em ten, players scratched their way to $10,000 this week. They are:
- William Bynum of Aurora ($120 Million Cash)
- Elijah Carlton of Warsaw ($2,500 a Week for Life!)
- Dennis Cartwright of Elizabeth City (Green & Gold)
- Robert Clemons of Bessemer City ($120 Million Cash)
- Pauline Davis of Vass ($120 Million Cash)
- Diana Duff of Chapel Hill ($120 Million Cash)
- Raymond Edwards of Winston-Salem ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)
- Jennifer Lawton of Sneads Ferry ($120 Million Cash)
- Linda McElrath of Asheville ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)
- William Muller of Cary ($5,000 a Week for Life!)
Last but not least, Crystal Martin of Mebane won $30,000 playing Triple The Money.
Thanks for playing and reading. Until next time, have a fun and safe weekend. See you soon here in the Lucke-Zone.

It seems like the same state and cities continue to win. Quad 4 have been blocked since the lottery started and haven't dropped. I know people that throw away good money for the past 2yrs and 4 haven't dropped yet. Somebody getting fat off all that money. Tell me how a number can stay blocked for years and don't drop
