A baker/party planner from Fayetteville will start the engines and a mechanic from Brevard will drop the green flag at the upcoming NCEL 200. Michelle Torres and William McCall will get a VIP experience that will drop them in the middle of Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 16 to be a part of the action.
Torres, a self-employed baker and party planner from Fayetteville, was selected as the Grand Marshal of the NASCAR NCEL 200 Camping World Truck Series race. As part of her prize, she will deliver the most famous words in racing: “Drivers, start your engines!”
“This is exciting,” Torres said. “I've been to some races over the years, but this is something I've never done before. I'm a little nervous, but I'm going to enjoy the moment. It's going to be fun.”
William McCall, a mechanic from Brevard, will be the Honorary Starter and will drop the green flag from atop the crow’s nest to start the race.
“I've never really won anything before,” McCall said. “Nothing like this, anyway. I’m going to take my wife with me. We’re both really excited. I just hope I don't get nervous and drop the flag on the cars going by.”
The VIP experience includes pit passes, a behind-the-scenes tour and a bird’s eye view of the race from a suite high above the speedway. The winners will also receive VISA gift cards, hotel accommodations on the night of the NCEL 200 and a ticket package to the NCEL 200 Camping World Truck Series race, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star race, NASCAR Nationwide Series History 300 race and the Sprint Cup Series Coca Cola 600 race.
Eighteen more winners were randomly selected for the NASCAR race ticket package at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Each will receive a pair of tickets to the NCEL 200 Camping World Truck Series race, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star race, NASCAR Nationwide Series History 300 race and the Sprint Cup Series Coca Cola 600 race.
