Lottery players in North Carolina won more than $17.7 million in prizes since last Thursday, including wins of $10,000 to $100,000 across 14 towns and cities. During that time, players of instant scratch-off games won more than $14.2 million. Players of draw games won more than $3.5 million in total prizes.
The two largest wins of the week came in the Carolina Cash 5 game. Benjamin Rochelle of Jacksonville said "This is very exciting" as he collected his $100,342 Cash 5 prize on Thursday afternoon.
Theodore Huntley of Charlotte, a regular lottery player, said it felt good to win the $85,057 jackpot in the May 24 Cash 5 drawing. He purchased the lucky ticket at the Circle K on N.C. 49 in Mount Pleasant.
The biggest scratch-off winner of the week was Tania Williams of Edenton who won $25,000 playing Scoop the Cash. She plans to use her winnings to share with her family.
