‘Bonus Bucks’ drawing $50,000 winner claims prize

The $50,000 winner from the June 11 Carolina Cash 5 Bonus Bucks drawing is Cergio Marin of Charlotte. Marin, who works as a welder and a machine mechanic, plans to use his winnings to pay off his wife’s car and other bills.

“This is great,” he said as he collected his winnings. “I’ve been playing Cash 5 lately because of the Bonus Bucks entries. And I win all the time just playing the EZ Match game. I won $10 just this morning, so I got my money back and I still have numbers in tonight’s drawing.”

Marin received his winning Bonus Bucks entry at the Arrowood Shell on South Tryon Street in Charlotte.

A total of five cash prizes are awarded in each Bonus Bucks drawing, including a top prize of $50,000, a $5,000 prize and three $1,000 prizes.

We’re still waiting to hear from three remaining winners, including a $5,000 winning entry (#10324938) that was issued at the Rivergate Express on Walker Branch Drive in Charlotte.

One of the $1,000 prizes was claimed by Daniel Jackson, Jr. of Durham.
The two remaining $1,000 winning entries are:
• Entry #10148689 – Issued at ET’s Quick Stop on N.C. 96 in Youngsville.
• Entry #10614540 – Issued at the Poco Shop on South Main Street in Raeford.

Bonus Bucks entry slips issued after May 28 are valid for the next drawing on Aug. 14.

Is there any other way to claim a winning prize from a game such as Cash 5, powerball, etc without having the winning ticket. For instance the numbers were written down when the ticket was purchased, however the ticket cannot be located. How can a person prove he or she is the winner. NC Lottery
The only way to claim a prize is to produce a winning ticket. So make sure you keep up with it and sign the back of it to claim ownership.

Winning the lottery or any kind of game of chance is pure luck and I congratulate all the winners. The only way to increase your odds of winning is to play the game. Celebrate every win whether it is yours or not, you never know when your numbers will come up. It has been quoted that the two greatest warriors are time and patience.

this is about lucky zone. i continue to enter the lucky zone wkly drawings very well knowing that i don't have a chance because i only have about 10 to twenty points to enter each time. being that we don't know how many points it took to win for each person i still don't trust the game because sometimes the same person has won more then one time. WHY! cant't you disclose how many points the person had to win the drawing. after all it is suppose to be an OPEN and honest game.i have submitted my points on ALL the games over the last 2/3 years or however long the lucky zone has been in existence. let us see!!! points next to the names.NC Lottery
It's up to each Lucke-Zone member whether he or she wants to disclose how many points they've used to enter drawings. All drawings are held under supervision of an auditor, according to strict security procedures.

Depends on ticket sales. For prizes of $5,000 or more, 25% federal and 5.8% state taxes are withheld.

Hello mine is a question. What is the telephone number used when North Carolina Lottery contact a winner for second chance drawings. Is North Carolina Lottery name is displayed when they are calling, do they use the email system or your mailing adress. There are so many unknown numbers are telemarketers.NC Lottery

Has a subscription purchase ever won anything big on any of the lotteries? I don't recall seeing one in your posts. Just curious..I realize the odds are greater for the gas stations and stores due to volume. Also, any plans to put more of the self service machines in stores for the Powerball, Cash 5, Megamillions tickets? I prefer to purchase that way instead of going to the customer service desk or a clerk at a gas station.NC Lottery

ncel you keep saying half the unclaimed money from the cash5 bonus bucks drawings go back in prizes, but yet here it is a year and half from the unclaimed 50k from the drawing nov.2012 and no additional prizes have been added to the cash5 bonus bucks drawings, whats up with that?NC Lottery
Unclaimed prize money goes back into the pool of money used to pay out prizes. We never said it would result in more or larger Bonus Bucks prizes. The Bonus Bucks prize structure is set up the same way going forward.

I am not asking about EZ match.I am talking about cash 5? do you guys read these messages?Why are the numbers so close together when you buy the tickets 4 hours apart and 50 miles apart.I know they generate more than one ticket in 4 hours.I haven't won anything so I do not know why this is even in this conservation.NC Lottery
Like you say, thousands of tickets are produced every day. The odds of matching all five numbers are 1 in 575,757 and that happens several times a week on average; who knows what the odds of similar numbers being generated on tickets sold at different stores. We've been doing our best to answer your questions for years and we'll keep trying!

NCEL....you completely missed the point of Bkearney220's question. The question has nothing to do with EZ match....it was about the quick picks that are generated by the computers. I understand what they are talking about, because I have noticed the same thing. But since you are on a roll with EZ match, what are the odds ( I am asking for Numbers, not " the story" ) for that game? Thanks. Congrats to all the winners in the last Bonus Bucks draw!!

Ok,I ask about the numbers generated for cash 5.My husband purchased a cash 5 ticket at 8:00 on one side of town.Purchased another one across town @ 12:30.Why are the #'s so close? 21-24-28-29-30 / 22-23-26-29-30 / Another question?When he purchases a ticket and the #,s are low,the #'s generated when they are picked will be high and vice versa.It like someone or something knows the numbers on the tickets????NC Lottery
Whether or not you win a prize playing EZ Match is random, but the numbers that are generated are just a visual representation of whether or not you win. It's similar to a scratch-off ticket. Matching numbers or uncovering certain symbols is just the "story" of your win.

I find it very odd that every time I play the EZ match when I check my numbers I see that the higher paying money is always assigned to numbers that are just 1 number off on every number I have.....hmmm very oddNC Lottery

Thanks for asking! Your EZ Match numbers have nothing to do with the evening drawing. They just reveal whether or not you have won a prize instantly or not.

The same computer network that connects retail locations for games like Cash 5 connects them for EZ Match. The numbers are generated to reveal whether or not you've won an EZ Match prize. Because the numbers tell the story of your win, they only range from 1 to 39, like Cash 5 numbers.

Promotions such as EZ Match are only available at retail locations. One reason is that it requires EZ Match numbers to be printed on the spot, where you find out if you win instantly or not. That's not something that can be offered via subscription.

all I can win on ez match is 2 or 3 dollars. play 5 numbers everyday, don't think there is any thing higher than that, sometimes. think the 50, 250 and 500 on ez match is just smoke and mirrors.NC Lottery
