This week brings big Cash 5 win and a trip to Las Vegas

This week, scratchin’ and matchin’ produced a big Cash 5 prize, a trip to Las Vegas and more.

The biggest win of the week came from a resident of Cabarrus County. Cathy Klinglesmith matched all five numbers in Monday’s Carolina Cash 5 drawing and won the $227,730 jackpot. She purchased her lucky ticket at the Food Lion on N.C. 49 North in Harrisburg.

Not far away in Mecklenburg County, two big-winning Powerball tickets were purchased within ten miles of each other in the June 21 drawing. One ticket, sold at the Circle K on Selwyn Avenue in Charlotte, won $30,000 and has yet to be claimed.

In the same drawing, Dason Edwards of Charlotte, matched four white balls and the Powerball to win $10,000. He said he plans to save his winnings and make some investments. His lucky ticket was purchased nearby at the 7-Eleven on Old Statesville Road. Sounds like a lucky week for the Queen City.

On the opposite side of the state, a Kentucky mother managed to add some additional excitement to her family’s vacation on the Carolina Coast. Britney Smith of Burgin scratched a $10,000 win on a $1 EZ Money ticket. She plans to save the prize money to help pay for their three boys’ college education.

In all, players statewide scratched and matched their way to $18 million in prizes this week, including four players who scratched their way to $10,000 prizes:

Lester Brown of Kernersville ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)
Randy Causby of Rutherford College ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)
Jeanne Penny of Clayton ($120 Million Cash)
Charles Perdue of Lewisville (Millionaire 7’s)

Asheville resident Antoinetta Jackson is the latest player to instantly win a Las Vegas trip playing the Caesars game. She scratched off her prize last Saturday and plans to “hit up the slot machines” and see a few shows with her mother.

“I couldn’t believe that I’d won,” Jackson said. “I have some family in Las Vegas, so I’ll get to see them. It feels great to win. I’m very excited.”

There are 16 more trips to Las Vegas and seven $150,000 top prizes remaining to be won instantly in the Caesars game. Las Vegas trips can also be won via second-chance drawings.

Players entering their non-winning Caesars tickets for a chance to win a Las Vegas vacation in the July 9 drawing need to get their entries in by Monday, June 30. Three trips to stay five nights in a deluxe room at Caesars Palace are up for grabs, so don’t miss your chance. Twenty total trips will be awarded via second-chance drawing and 20 more can be won instantly on the scratch-off ticket.

Hey, Richie - great question! The answer is that All or Nothing drawings are done using a random number generator, so there isn't a ball machine involved. But, just like all our other drawings, strict security steps are followed, and an auditor who doesn't work for the lottery is there to ensure the integrity of the drawings :-)

I am truly happy for all winners; however I try to stay optimistic but it seems like the same winners in the same geographical locations win more than others. High Point, Raleigh, and Winston Salem. Not many in Charlotte seem to ever win. I do not know anyone who does not play here and our area is much larger than most?NC Lottery

I didn't think you would answer what I had to say earlier. For those of us who play frequently - and anyone else, the RAFFLE gives us all the BEST ODDS of winning. The NC lottery might not make as much from it, but once/year they might just offer it to players to reward them/give them more hope. Again, if advertised properly, and if $10, instead of $20 tickets were used (with 2 one mil winners), the NC lottery could STILL make SOME money, but would bring back excitement to the players and give better odds, if even for just one game per year. It might also bring more players in! PLEASE, do as other states (like VA, CT, PA, MN - to name a few) do and bring this BACK!!!!!!

I said it before, but it bears repeating. PLEASE bring back the raffle!! I realize that last time you had a hard time selling all the tickets, but you did it wrong! If done right, the raffle will bring back excitement to the game, reward those of us who play a lot, and you will sell the tickets if you ADVERTISE and sell them, like other states do, for $10 instead of $20 per ticket. For instance, MN sells $10 tickets (600K of them) and 2 people win 1 mil - meaning it's a 300k to one chance of becoming a millionaire for $10. They have many other prizes, and they STILL come out ahead, as well as bringing back excitement to their game. Anyone out there agree??? Just look up the minnesota lottery raffle and see. AGAIN - PLEASE try it again!!!! Thank you

Today's pic three was a clear indication of how this lottery is rigged. All numerology indicated that it should have been a double digit consisting of two fives or two sixes plus one zero. This may not get posted but I'm on to the way they take numbers out of rotation:-)NC Lottery
It can be fun to pick your numbers different ways, but "numerology" isn't a science. Ask a statistics professor; odds of any Pick 3 number are exactly 1 in 1000 for every drawing regardless of past results.

Players beware,,, nc lottery is not as honest as they claim to be!! THINK ABOUT THIS......THE CUTOFF TIME IS AT 2:45, however the numbers are not readily available to the general public until at least 3:00 pm or later (11pm or later evening draw) this gives the lottery commission enough time to determine the next number to be air pumped as determined by the lottery analyst on duty so therefore the lottery commission DOES CONTROL WHAT NUMBERS WILL SURFACE AFTER THEY HAVE GATHERED THEIR DATA ANALYSIS FOR THE DAY/EVENING DRAW! Of course the lottery commission is not going to tell us the truth but think about it, numbers you know should fall and are heavily played are pulled out of rotation........THINK ABOUT!! they will respond to this post by saying it's a luck of the draw,or they may not even post this comment, but there is someone "BEHIND THE SCENES"monitoring heavily played numbers so the commission only has to so much money! I study numerology and astrology, and for the past few months I have noticed that "certain numbers"that should fall are being "SKIPPED OVER"! I also have noticed that numbers that are heavily played by consumers "never fall" until two ton four weeks later. Could this be because the lottery commission actually does have a "mathematician " behind the scenesNC Lottery
