Before we look back at who had good fortune to beat the odds this week, we’d like to take a second to wish everyone the best who might be affected by Hurricane Arthur. It’s never good to take your chances in severe weather. So everyone play it safe!
Speaking of the coast, let’s begin our journey there. A Beaufort County man won a $376,407 jackpot playing Carolina Cash 5. James Freeman of Washington matched all five numbers in the June 18 drawing. He purchased the lucky ticket at the Waterfront Mini Mart on Park Drive in Washington.
Further south in the Port City, a Mega Millions player Megaplied his way to $15,000 in Tuesday’s drawing. Robert Fetterman bought a ticket at the Gas Center on South College Road. Because he matched four out of five white balls and the gold Mega Ball – and the Megaplier was three – Fetterman tripled his $5,000 winnings.
Another Wilmington player, Carolyn Hall, scratched her way to $50,000 playing Gold Bar Bingo. In neighboring Pender County, Phillip Culler of Currie won $10,000 on a 50X The Cash ticket.
Moving inland, Tracie Williams of Kinston won $10,000 instantly playing $120 Million Cash. Roger Benton of Dudley won the $50,000 jackpot in the June 28 Cash 5 drawing. Nearby in Duplin County, Linwood Carlton of Rose Hill bought a Red Hot 5’s ticket that turned out to be worth $30,000 in prize money.
From Rose Hill, if you take I-40 North and hop on N.C. 24 West, you’ll be on your way to Fayetteville. Residents Randy and Taylor Jackie found out they won $174,384 in the June 27 drawing. When Jackie realized they won, she woke up her husband to share the good news. “When I found out at midnight, I thought it had to be a dream,” Randy said. “I woke up the next morning with a smile on my face when I realized I had really won.” Another player from Fayetteville, Jesmon Harris, won $10,000 in the June 28 Powerball drawing.
As we head north toward the Triangle, we make a stop in Moore County. That’s where Franklin Holder, a truck driver from Cameron, won $150,000 playing White Hot 5’s. “I couldn’t believe it when I found out I won, because it takes a while to set in,” Holder said as he held his check for the first time. “Now it feels like a big payday.”
In Wake County, a Cary man said his $750,000 scratch was a “life-changing moment.” Ronnie Versteeg said the prize money he won playing Jumbo Bucks would allow his family to take a trip to the beach and save for retirement. Another lucky ticket in Cary, sold at the Harris Teeter on Cornerstone Drive, won $10,000 in the June 28 drawing. The prize has yet to be claimed.
Not far from the Virginia border in Granville County, Wesley Royster of Oxford scratched off a $250,000 Cash Money ticket and won $10,000 instantly.
Let’s travel to the Triad. We already mentioned two $10,000-winning Powerball tickets from the June 28 drawing. A third was sold at the Pantry Shop on South Holden Road in Greensboro, but has yet to be claimed.
Due south in Randolph County, two players scratched off $10,000 prizes. Paul Davis of Seagrove and Stephanie Loman of Liberty won playing $4,000,000 Multilplier Spectacular and $120 Million Cash, respectively.
In the Queen City of Charlotte, Larry Johnson Power-Played his way to $30,000 in the June 21 Powerball drawing. He bought his lucky ticket at the Circle K on Selwyn Avenue in Charlotte.
Catching I-77 North will take you close to Wilkes County. Jerry Luffman, a resident of the small town of Ronda, won $10,000 playing a $4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular ticket. In Surry County – just along the Virginia border – Lawrence Doyle of Pilot Mountain scratched his way to $10,000 playing $120 Million Cash.
After starting at the beach and crisscrossing the Tar Heel State, we’re almost to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Let’s pay a visit to Rutherford County. There, a lucky $4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular ticket turned into $10,000 for Gary Downey of Ellenboro. Just north of Asheville in Madison County, another $10,000 instant win went to Danny Laws of Marshall.
Last but not least, we make our final stop of the week in Jackson County. Glenville resident Nickalus Pressler bought a $4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular ticket and won $10,000.
Thanks for riding along – now it’s time to enjoy the July 4 weekend. Have fun, stay safe, and see you soon here in the Lucke-Zone.
