Triple 8's, Millionaire 7's prizes are largest of the week

Pick 3 players who like to play triple 8’s saw a seven-figure payout in a week where lottery winners across the state scratched and matched their way to $23 million in total prizes. Prizes of $1 million and $150,000 were also awarded and a trio of Cash 5 tickets split a jackpot worth nearly half a million dollars.

For Pick 3 players who had a ticket for the number 8-8-8 in Saturday’s daytime drawing, the winning three-digit combination resulted in $1.6 million in total prizes. An exact match on a $1 Pick 3 ticket wins the game’s top prize of $500. In all, Pick 3 players won more than $4.3 million this week.

A Johnston County man scratched off a $1 million prize, the largest individual lottery prize of the week. Ernest Thorb Jr. of Clayton won the prize after buying a $10 ticket for the Millionaire 7’s game at the Raceway 991 on South Saunders Street in Raleigh. Six $1 million prizes, five $100,000 prizes – and many other prizes – remain to be claimed in the $10 game.

Another instant winner is Victoria Anthony, a Navy veteran from Oak City in Martin County. She was left “speechless” over the Labor Day weekend when one of her lottery tickets turned out to have a $150,000 prize. Her good luck came on a White Hot 5’s ticket she bought at the Wilco on Academy Street in Robersonville.

One of the Cash 5 players to win a third of Thursday’s $474,405 Cash 5 jackpot has already claimed his winnings. Randel Holland, a Raleigh businessman, woke up at 3 a.m. Friday, checked his Cash 5 tickets, and said he was too excited to go back to sleep. He bought his $158,135 winning Quick Pick ticket at the Kangaroo Express on Wake Forest Road in Raleigh.

The other two Cash 5 tickets to win $158,135 shares of the jackpot were sold at Woodies on Tryon Street in Charlotte and the AAA Mart on N.C. 66 South in Kernersville. The winning numbers in the drawing were 2-6-10-23-24. The other ticketholders have 180 days to make their way to lottery headquarters to claim.

From Aug. 28 through Sept. 4, lottery players won more than $16.8 million playing instant games and more than $6.5 million playing draw games. Sixteen more prizes awarded were worth between $10,000 and $50,000.

How about some Scratch Off games featuring Triple Crown Winners? Also, with all the news about the military recently, maybe some games featuring the Armed Forces. Being retired USN, I'd like to see an "Anchors Aweigh" game depicting an launch of a fighter off USS Eisenhower. Maybe the Blue Angels or the Air Force flight demo team. Possibilities seem endless and there are so many great pictures on the net which are in the public domain. Black Hawk gun ships would be great. Just a suggestion...

Good Morning all, I use to Carry an acorn in my pocket all the time for luck! Didn't work well, I would win a dollar or 2 every now and then! Y'all think that was the reason I won! Now Finding a penny and picking it up was consider bringing you good luck too. I have found pennies before, but would have to be on heads before I would pick it up though. I have a rabbit's foot hanging on my rear view mirror. But it has not been lucky for me, other than not getting into a fender bender. Now being unlucky like me Breaking a mirror in the shower awhile back, when I was shaving. You think that's the reason I've not been lucky lately! Black cats crossed your path recently? I never had any type of addiction. I got addicted to the nc lottery scratch offs, and etc . It caused alot of problems in my marriage financially. I played to win big but lost my butt bigtime. It sta rted with one ticket. Shocking to see the damage!!!!! I am getting help! Maybe I will win the second hand drawing to help me with the cost of therapy. I am done totally!! another day another miserable thrashing by the lottery. I bought 6.00 worth of pick 3 tickets, 4.00 worth of pick 4 tickets, and 11.00 worth of mega million tickets. the whopping grant total of winnings? a measly 1.00. It's very frustrating to play so many numbers in those 3 games and not hit a damn thing. I keep wondering when my supposed lucky day will come after constantly losing everyday. It's time to end this charade of providing money to others when I know this is one big scam. NC Lottery

Thanks..called the customer service.. I got clarification that email alerts are only sent out for tickets purchased via LuckeRewards online. For tickets purchased from a retail store the player has to check numbers on their own..I did not know that.

I won $18 on several tickets entered but did not get the email alert like I used to informing me "Congratulations! Your ticket just won..."? Is that feature removed? Luckily I checked my tickets at a scanner in the store but have thrown away others..NC Lottery

Winners can be announced only after they respond to the notification AND complete the claim process. That can sometimes take days or weeks after the drawing date.

Looking at the POWERBALL winners from last night! You know that California had 65,907 winners from that state, the most winners over all of the states that play! Including Match 4 plus POWERBALL NUMBER was 6 winners! Florida was 2nd with most winners they had 51,254 winners from that state! New York City was 3rd they had 48,509 winners! The Total Winners in all across AMERICA was 594,455..Lots of lucky folks last night! First time in a long time I didn't buy a ticket! Was afraid my numbers was coming out, but no, they didn't! break even tickets are so depressing , you are not a winner as notation of 'match you win '. the only thing you gain is case of high blood pressure .you play to win not break even . have fewer break even tickets and more money gain tickets . I play/donate to lottery to win money not break even .

Just want to say, I love the All or Nothing game. It's not the one million $$$$ game that I mentioned in my last blog that would be only for people in N.C. to play. At least the money from this new game from all the non-winners will stay in N.C. for education, I hope that is where the money is going. I LOVE THE NEW GAME ALL OR NOTHING, BUT I THINK YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO CHOOSE DAY OR NIGHT TO PLAY IT. IT'S NOT CONVENIENT FOR EVERYONE IF YOU JUST WANT TO PLAY IN THE DAY DRAWING OR NIGHT. So, you cant typically expect to see All or Nothing results between 15 and 30 minutes after a drawing

I would like to make some ambiguous and pre-emptive accusations. By vaguely accusing you of rigging the games, I can ignore things like 1 in a trillion odds and basic mathematics. I’ve also ignored the chemical receptors in my brain that react positively to the excitement of placing a bet. I instead presume that such a positive feeling is a sixth sense telling me that I will win all the money.

I'm curious about when people wins, what kind of feeling come over them when they win! For instance the winner, John Wright of Alexander County" He said that, “I just got a funny feeling, a good feeling, and I stopped and brought two,” That statement is what makes me wonder about! Now here is another man, Jarred Earles of Eden said he followed a hunch on Saturday to buy his first lottery ticket in three years and it paid off with a $200,000 win. Now he said he was sitting at home on his couch when he decided to drive to a nearby store to purchase a ticket! A clerk said to buy the BREAK THE BANK ticket. He did and won! What a coincidences. My thing is what kind of feeling you have before you win! This man told me he don't buy any tickets until he feels lucky, then he buy's them and he said he wins sometimes! Not all the time he said! Trying to win all or nothing so I am keeping my fingers cross. I like that there is not an option for day or evening draws. We need the pick 3/4 to be the same with only consecutive draws; too many times I have the winning numbers on the wrong draw! How does the random number generator works? It seems pretty hard to hit the top prize;so far. Does it store all the combination of numbers sold and at a predetermine time, lets say after sufficient funds been collected and only then will there a winner/s? Thanks. NC Lottery
Each drawing is it's own thing, not dependent on any sufficient funds or any other parameter. It's just a generator that pulls 12 numbers. Best of luck!

For me to play all or nothing, the 2nd,3rd, and 4th prizes need to be much larger. With a top prize frozen at 250k, 2nd level should be at least 10k.
