Fayetteville, best known as home of Fort Bragg Army Base, is also home to four lucky lottery players who won big this week, including two $1 million prizes.
One of the $1 million winners is Richard James, who won the top prize playing the $1,000,000 Jackpot instant scratch-off game. He purchased the $10 ticket Thursday morning at the Circle B on North Reilly Road in Fayetteville.
The day before, retired Army Sgt. Major George Brooks came to lottery headquarters to claim the $1 million he won playing $200 Million Blowout. Brooks said he plans to use the money to buy a new home, help the homeless and donate to the ASPCA.
Kelly Williams scratched her way to the $150,000 top prize in the Jumbo Jingle Bucks game. She purchased the $5 ticket at the Short Stop on Morganton Road in Fayetteville. One top prize of $150,000 remains to be claimed in the game.
Our fourth Fayetteville winner this week is Nisith Naik. He won $10,000 instantly playing the $4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular ticket.
But it wasn’t just folks in the Sandhills of North Carolina who won big prizes this week. Near the Virginia Border in Vance County, a homemaker from Henderson won $150,000 in the Caesars instant game. “It feels good to have this financial security,” Tondela Harrison said as she collected her winnings.
In Rowan County, Amber Shipley of Gold Hill won $100,000 playing the Millionaire 7’s game. She purchased the $10 ticket at the Richfield Food Mart on N.C. 49 North in Richfield.
We’re still waiting to find out who won Thursday’s $429,101 Carolina Cash 5 jackpot. The lucky ticket was sold at the Quick Trip on Sunset Road in Charlotte.
