Fayetteville, best known as home of Fort Bragg Army Base, is also home to four lucky lottery players who won big this week, including two $1 million prizes.

One of the
$1 million winners is Richard James, who won the top prize playing the $1,000,000 Jackpot instant scratch-off game. He purchased the $10 ticket Thursday morning at the Circle B on North Reilly Road in Fayetteville.

The day before, retired Army Sgt. Major George Brooks came to lottery headquarters to claim the
$1 million he won playing $200 Million Blowout. Brooks said he plans to use the money to buy a new home, help the homeless and donate to the ASPCA.

Kelly Williams scratched her way to the
$150,000 top prize in the Jumbo Jingle Bucks game. She purchased the $5 ticket at the Short Stop on Morganton Road in Fayetteville. One top prize of $150,000 remains to be claimed in the game.

Our fourth Fayetteville winner this week is Nisith Naik. He won $10,000 instantly playing the $4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular ticket.

But it wasn’t just folks in the Sandhills of North Carolina who won big prizes this week. Near the Virginia Border in Vance County, a homemaker from Henderson won
$150,000 in the Caesars instant game. “It feels good to have this financial security,” Tondela Harrison said as she collected her winnings.

In Rowan County, Amber Shipley of Gold Hill won
$100,000 playing the Millionaire 7’s game. She purchased the $10 ticket at the Richfield Food Mart on N.C. 49 North in Richfield.

We’re still waiting to find out who won Thursday’s
$429,101 Carolina Cash 5 jackpot. The lucky ticket was sold at the Quick Trip on Sunset Road in Charlotte.

Another nine wins of $10,000 to $55,353 were claimed this week. Those winners are:

  • Tabitha Hoffler of Battleboro: $50,000 ($200 Million Blowout)
  • Jason Hughes of Charlotte: $10,000 (12/31/14 Powerball drawing)
  • Glenn Lavy and Sara Mahaffey of Denver: $50,000 ($200 Million Blowout)
  • David Walser of Efland: $10,000 (1/3/15 Powerball drawing)
  • Johnny Jordan of Greensboro: $10,000 (Jumbo Bucks)
  • Anna Hildreth of Indian Trail: $10,000 ($120 Million Cash)
  • Jerry Hanks of Reidsville: $10,000 ($4,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular)
  • Leslie Shepherd of Robersonville: $55,535 (12/23/14 Cash 5 drawing)
  • Lewis Williams of Roxboro: $10,000 (Millionaire 7’s)

ok, thank you so much for the response. one last question regarding that please? "from range of entries made in the drawing", and there was another response to lead me to believe all entries do not make it to drawing. Am I correct? thank you so much. just trying to get an idea of what my chances truly are :)NC Lottery
Every entry you or any other player makes into a drawing is in the drawing for a chance to win!!!

Is there any advantage to staggering your entries in second chance drawings? Say, 10 entries for a drawing one day, then 3 the next, then 20 the next day, etc? Or are your chances just as good as if you do all your entries at the same time in one shot?NC Lottery
All entries are created equal. It doesn't matter if you enter all at once or stagger :)

lucke-zone, just what is the process of the second chance drawings? is there any kind of video of how its done or can you briefly explain the process? thanksNC Lottery
Sure, thanks for the chance to answer your question :) The drawings are done using a certified random number generator that picks however many numbers at random, from the range of entries made in the drawing. Whatever entries come up are the winners! All our drawings are done under the supervision of an auditor, according to strict security procedures.

I just dont get why most all winners in 2nd chance drawings are from east of Asheville i don't think anyone from Asheville,Waynesville Canton ,Clyde Sylva , have won any 2nd chance drawings i maybe wrong but don`t think i am go figureNC Lottery
Somewhere around 93% of North Carolinians live east of Asheville. It's not easier to win a drawing depending on where you live, there are just more folks entering for a chance to win east of you :)

@ CANT LOSE - You are correct that when you play All or Nothing, the most likely outcome is to match 5-7 numbers. What makes the game fun/unique is that there are ten other ways to win a prize, two of which win the top prize of $250,000. Just like any game of chance you have to beat the odds to win something! That takes luck and we wish you the best!

All or nothing I stopped playing weeks ago because I tend to win back $2 I started with or no more than $10. Since over 90 percent fall into That category, are there any plans To modify the game? It appears that hitting 0-3 or beyond 5-7 doesn't happen frequently.

I stopped playing all or nothing weeks ago since my total winning tends to be $2. I either get just 4 #s correctly or fall into the DEAD ZONE of 5 to 7 possible numbers out of 12. Are there any plans to modify the game since most winners collect Between 2 & 10 dollars

You advertise that the new scratch off come out every Tuesday however on 2 separate times the store would not sell me the new one because they stated they still had the old ones. Is this the way it is?NC Lottery
We encourage retailers to rotate new tickets into dispensers as quickly as possible, but its true that stores have to sell through enough inventory in order to have space available to sell new games. Many stores definitely have them available on First Tuesday.

No big winners from Raleigh as usual. It seems like the max anyone wins in Raleigh Scratch offs is $1,000.00.Always in Charlotte, Wilmington and other places other than The Oak City ...Why? Looks like a set up to me...NC Lottery
We've had LOTS of winners in the Raleigh area. You can click here to see stories about many of them: http://bit.ly/1lyN9Ae
