New 1OFF play style coming in February

“I was so close. I was just one number off!”

How many times has this happened to you? Well, starting Feb. 1, Carolina Pick 3 and Pick 4 players will have an exciting new play type called 1-OFF, which will reward those folks that almost matched all the numbers by allowing each digit to be one number off.

With the 1-OFF play style, you win prizes if one or more of the numbers you selected are one number off the numbers drawn. This means that an exact match will not be a winner. So if you still want to win on an “exact” number, you’ll need to purchase a regular Pick 3 ticket.

Pick 3 players who select the 1-OFF play type can win up to $40 on a $1 ticket and up to $20 on a $.50 ticket. Pick 4 players who select the 1-OFF play type can win up to $300 on a $1 ticket and up to $150 if the $.50 ticket is purchased.

The 1-Off option joins the five existing play types for the Pick 3 and Pick 4: Exact, Any, 50/50, Combo, Front Pair and Back Pair. Players may select their own numbers or choose the Quick Pick option.

Check out the Pick 3 ticket sample image to see what your 1-OFF ticket will look like. Prize amounts vary based on how many numbers are“1-OFF”, one, two or three. Every potential winning number combination and the associated prize will be printed on your 1-OFF ticket, so you’ll never have to wonder how much you won.

i think over the weekend there should be somebody to talk to about these games because we play theses games monday thur sunday and if you have a question on sunday you have to wait til monday but you are still reciveing are money and it seems that gastonia is left out of the drawings its really turning gastonia people away from the lottery people are beginning to believe that the drawings are set up people in gastonia check out how many winners we have had since the lottery started

Will the number I choose have to be 3 different numbers and no double numbers. For example, I can not choose 112 for this game, only 3 different numbers will work, like 123.NC Lottery
You can pick any of the 1000 possible numbers, 000-999... you win a prize if one, two or three of your numbers are 1-OFF. There are 26 possible combinations of numbers that win a prize when you Play Pick 3 with the 1-OFF play type.

Well, that would win if you had played it as "Any". For 1-OFF, it would have to come up 450 or 360 or something like that. Check your ticket to see all the potential winning combinations!

You have to be 1 number off, so you would win if you had 2201 or 2209. Remember, all the winning combinations are printed right on your ticket!

NCEL-Your last drawing of 25,000 celebration at 50 points per entry I had a total 0f 215 entries, that's a lot of entries times 50, and I still did not win. I think that these games are fixed and someone should investigate this company.NC Lottery

There are often tens of thousands or more than a hundred thousand entries made in a Lucke-Rewards drawing. No matter how many entries you make, you will always have a chance to win but not a guarantee. Good luck to you!

On 02/03/15 played 317 pic3. I didn't win even though 317 was the winning number. I didn't win because I played 1-off. I don't think it was fair because regardless 317 was the winning number.NC Lottery
It's a new game, so we know folks are getting familiar with it. Check out the second paragraph of this blog: "With the 1-OFF play style, you win prizes if one or more of the numbers you selected are one number off the numbers drawn. This means that an exact match will not be a winner. So if you still want to win on an “exact” number, you’ll need to purchase a regular Pick 3 ticket." 1-OFF is a different way to play Pick 3 :)

Let me just say this game is Wack!! Instead of North Carolina producing more winners, it's producing more MONEY. The reason, why can't the numbers you choose be one off? Instead you have to get their number exact to win And be one off. You are better off playing any on your slip and getting something than Nothing.this game they can KEEP!NC Lottery

No. 1-OFF is a play type, not an add-on. So if you want to play different orders of numbers with the 1-OFF play type, you'd have to get more than one ticket.

Great question! 1-OFF is a new PLAY TYPE, not an add on. So you play for either $.50 or $1. Remember, if you play the # 1-2-3 in the 1-OFF play type, and 1-2-3 comes up as the winning numbers, you do not win a prize. So if 1-2-3 is your favorite number and you also want the 1-OFF "insurance" you would need to buy two tickets, one for your favorite number, and one for the possible 1-OFF combinations :)

No. Because 8 is 3-off from the first digit, 5... 8 is 5-off from the second number, 3 and 7 is 4-off from the third number, 3. To win a prize playing 1-OFF, each number can only be 1-OFF in the exact order.

If you play 345, 546 doesn't win a prize because 5 is 2-off from the first digit, 3. Same for 654, because 6 is 3-off from the first digit, 3. The possible winning numbers for 345 are: 245, 445, 355, 335, 346, 344, 235, 244, 246, 255, 334, 336, 354, 356, 435, 444, 446, 455, 234, 236, 254, 256, 434, 436, 454 and 456.

I have been off 1, 2 or 3 numbers almost everyday. This 1 off play style starts February and its sound exciting, but whenever it starts either the number or numbers won't come up at all or if it does come up you will win a dollar.

Correct. If you fill out a play slip and check "Both Draws" you will get separate tickets for daytime and evening draws with the same numbers.

Can you move up the evening draw time? Why do we draw the pick-3 and pick-4 evening so late. Also why is the drawing not live on tv64? ThanksNC Lottery
The answers to your questions have to do with the contract the lottery has with WRAL and other TV stations to carry its drawings. The evening P3/P4/C5 drawings are scheduled to fit with the 11pm news. We used to have a TV station in Charlotte that carried the drawings live, but they did not renew the contract. So TV64 was the best option available.

great change in the system.. im a avid p3,p4 player and like to day 1/9/15 i had 2 of the 3 # and lost so if i had the dollar 1 off feature i guess it would change for the better..... we will see i played all the games, sum it up, all or nothing its risky more than ever but just remember people its a online game and it still a very low percent that u will win anything or not..

I would like to see Pick 3 & Pick 4 played like All or Nothing...so that no digits match, then you win!!! A good amount for Pick 3 would be $250 and for Pick 4 maybe $2,500!!! All or NOTHING is the best game that the Lottery has put out cause the odds of winning are in favor for the player to win!!! In the last 2 days, I won $162, not from the free tickets but from my numbers.

Great question! For the 1-OFF play style, if you play 444 and it comes out 444, you don't win on that ticket. So if 444 is your favorite number, you'd need another Pick 3 ticket any/exact for the number 444.

I don't expect this game to last very long before you recall it because I know I'm not the only one that always gets just one number off.
