Mega Millions, Cash 5 jackpots top week’s lottery news

Friday’s drawing marks the third Mega Millions jackpot run this year where the annuity has reached the $200 million threshold. If won and claimed as a lump sum, it would be worth an estimated $120 million cash.

Besides hitting the jackpot, there are eight other ways to win a prize playing Mega Millions. Four North Carolina tickets in the past week matched four white balls and the gold Mega Ball to win $5,000 each. They were sold at:

- New Dixie Mart on N.C. 903 in Halifax (Friday, Nov. 6)
- Country Corner Grocery on Jones Dairy Road in Wake Forest (Friday, Nov. 6)
- Swift Shop on East Pine Street in Mount Airy (Tuesday, Nov. 10)
- Food Lion on North Croatan Highway in Southern Shores (Tuesday, Nov. 10)

Two Carolina Cash 5 players came to headquarters to claim their jackpot winnings. Akeena Lyons of Pinetops won $121,142 in the Nov. 4 drawing and Mack Locklear of Maxton in Robeson County won $215,193 in the Nov. 10 drawing. Another six-figure winner, Philip Barber of Reidsville, scratched off a $100,000 top prize playing Mega Bucks.

Dwayne Hatley of Matthews won $50,000 in the Nov. 4 “X The Cash” second-chance drawing. He is the ninth winner in the promotion with two more drawings to go. The entry deadline for the Dec. 9 drawing is midnight on Nov. 30.

Four players won $50,000 instantly:

- Gregory Lewis of Rocky Mount (Holiday Gold)
- Trach Nguyen of Wake Forest ($200 Million Blowout)
- Tara Sadler of Winston-Salem (10X The Cash)
- Jimmy Presnell of Hickory (Junior Big Ol’ Bucks)

Six more players scratched their way to big wins:

- Martha Olvera of Raleigh: $25,000 (Gold 7’s)
- Charles Ratliff of Greensboro: $10,000 (50X The Cash)
- Dorothy Massenburg of Raleigh: $10,000 (5X The Cash)
- Chad Michaels of Morganton: $10,000 ($200 Million Blowout)
- Dannoel Knight of Tarboro: $10,000 (Platinum 7’s)
- Marvin Hicks of Angier: $10,000 (Merry Mega Bucks)

When was the last time someone won the $250,000 prize on the All or Nothing game? Seems that no one has won since March 2015? NC Lottery
So far we've had four winners of the $250,000 top prize in the All or Nothing game.Those wins occurred on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014; Friday, Dec. 12, 2014: Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015; and Sunday, March 1, 2015.

Have a question the instant game tickets scan fairly well but draw tickets r hard to scan is there a reason NC Lottery
We have never had this question before. But keep in mind that instant tickets are printed using gigantic, sophisticated machines, whereas draw tickets are printed quickly on the spot using small printer terminals.

Irritates me so much when I can never win on the $10 and $20 tickets. What's up with that? I buy them is different areas still nothing. I know we all can't win. It seems I'm forced to buy $5 and below. I want the big money.

I won a $1,000.00 on $1000 mayhem, my husband took it to turn it in for me because I couldn't go. The lottery place took the money that we needed so desperately, right now. They put the money on something he owed, I do not think that was fair. So beware if you're going to turn your winning ticket in- make sure you don't owe anything to the IRS or have someone else do it for you. So you can get some of your money. We have had several fairly sized lottery winners in my small town. Both were scratch-offs. I do not buy scratchers in my town now, why should i? We have had 2 big winners. The NCEL will not send anymore there for awhile. A lady from Gastonia won 1 million on one the Christmas scratchers. I will not buy in Gastonia for awhile. Fantasy football is my game now. I know for a fact, the lottery hates fantasy football. They will try and get rid of it, watch and see.

The odds of 7799 being the winning combination are 1 in 10,000 for every drawing. The chances of any particular combination coming out never change, it's all a matter of random chance :)

To the player who said they had the max with 2250 tickets in a 30 day period. Were they $1 tickets or $20 tickets? Just sayin, there is big difference between 2250 entries and 45,000 entries! I don't see how anyone could come up with that many entries, unless they saved them for a year or had friends and family contribute. I'm just saying I have seen players come on here and say they have had 10k, or 20k entries and not won. Remember there are over half a million members of the LZ who enter these contests everyday, every week and every month!

Once again I was cheated out of a top prize by one number. The Peppermint Payout was the ticket this time. The line for $50,000 was 28-41-46-31-13 and I hit all except for 41. I'm sick and tired of this, I've been playing (responsibly I might add) since the lottery was introduced including the second chance drawings and not once have I won a top prize nor anything from the drawings yet I have seen multiple players win more than once. I have no issue with this where scratch-offs are concerned because that's their good fortune but I have major issues when someone wins one of the drawings more than once particularly on the same prize and it has happened on several occasions. I have won some money of various amounts including $100 several times and $500 but never a top prize nor anything from the drawings and I should have by now. By all rights I should've won the $50,000 from the Peppermint Payout ticket.

After a yr I recently stopped playing 3143!! The day I didn't play it came exact!! I stopped playing that number to prove to my family that this is a scam and u guys control when the numbers come out!! Looks like I was rite!! Luck of the draw my behind!!I now stopped playing period!! U guys can continue to beat people out of their money!! This should be illegal like fanduel and draftkings!!

I plays the X the cash promotion in the month October I enter the most tickets you can put in for the promotion for that month and that was 2250 tickets it would being 2325 tickets but the website when down for one day of that month and i did not win anything why is that you said the most i put in a better chance that i would have so if you but the most you can get in what chance do you have?NC Lottery

People from places big and small can win the lottery. It isn't easier to win the lottery in a big city, there are just more folks taking a chance to win there. Your ticket has just as good a shot of winning as anyone else's - good luck!

I have two questions.... When will the weekly $500 drawings be revealed? Who do I contact if a cashier is taking winning tickets and using them to get points and enter second chance drawings? I spoke with the gas station manager but I think it's unfair to us that pay money to play and earn points for them to rack up points/entries for free?NC Lottery

I had a ticket that was ripped and could not read the number, knowing it could be from 0-9 i keep trying different numbers, after 6 tries I was locked out and was told I may be locked out permanently due to too many invalid entries..This is unfair considering how many tickets I purchase and enter every 75 that the limit is, and have been and still haven't won anything..Please lift the lock, this is not my fault. No one has said that ticket expire to enter on lucke rewards!!! Now all of a sudden they expire with on warning. Why??????????? I ask a while back and was told there was no expiration on the tickets and boy do I have a pile I would have entered for not that reply I had gotten.NC Lottery
