Those of you who like to play for multimillion-dollar jackpots are looking at two triple-digit possibilities this week. The annuity for Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing is up to $144 million, worth $89.6 million cash. And Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is a $142 million annuity, worth $88.5 million cash.
The Powerball jackpot has been growing since it was last hit for $310.5 million on the last day of September. To find a Mega Millions jackpot of this size, you have to go back to mid-July.
New Powerball features have already paid off in a big way for Dave Hebert of Wake Forest. He Power Played his way to $100,000 in Saturday’s drawing. The base prize for matching four white balls and the red Powerball is now $50,000 and, because the multiplier was two, his prize doubled to $100,000. Hebert purchased the lucky ticket at the Harris Teeter on Capital Boulevard in Wake Forest.
In even more Powerball news to come out of the weekend, a Power Play promotion is in effect that gives you a free chance to win. Through Nov. 28, when you Power Play three sets of numbers on a single Power Play ticket, you’ll qualify for a free Power Play ticket for the next drawing.
