Lottery players are off to a stellar start for the month of November. Since last week’s big winner wrap-up, 10 big prize payouts have been won or claimed, including two $1 million hauls.
A facilities operations specialist said he stumbled onto his $1 million prize. Richard Valentine, a facilities operations specialist from the small town of Bahama in Durham County, bought a lucky Platinum 7’s ticket at the Kangaroo Express on N.C. 54. He planned to put his prize money into savings.
The other $1 million winner is Latia Gaston of Charlotte. Gaston said she’d use her Holiday Gold prize money to invest in her hairdressing business, and donate to charity during the holiday season.
Three players scratched or matched their way to $100,000 prizes. They are:

- Christopher Furr of Charlotte (Merry Mega Bucks)
Two players claimed their Cash 5 jackpots:
- Cameron Hussey of Kinston: $225,696 (10/26/15 drawing)
- Walter Barsnica of Fayetteville: $92,507 (10/31/15 drawing)
Another Cash 5 player was among lucky winners in Wednesday’s drawings. The $121,142 jackpot was won in Edgecombe County. Someone bought the lucky ticket at Sal’s Korner on East Hamlet Street in Pinetops. The winning numbers were 5-10-25-30-33.
A Power Play ticket won $200,000 in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing. The winning ticket was sold at Lowe’s Foods on 29th Avenue Northeast in Hickory. The numbers were 2-12-17-20-65 for the white balls and 17 for the Powerball. Remember, a Power Play promotion is in effect through Nov. 28 that can get you a free ticket.
Rounding out the big wins Wednesday night, Pick 3 players saw a payout of more than $257,000 when the combination 9-1-0 came up.
